Don't think this would be the best deal for Trouba if they have to retain that much. Detroit could offer Holl for Trouba and a late pick with no retention.

Drury says pound sand and you're welcome for giving Goodrow for free.

I agree. First rounder is a fair cost to get out of $7 million per and Bordeleau could help the prospect pool a little. Reminds me of Iskhakov

DET has enough old overpaid guys
Unless its Chiarot you take back
I dont see this being 2 teams that can make a trade work.
Adding a guy who eats up even more minutes and has a big contract
That just is the opposite of everything Stevie Y has done in TBL or DET organizations
He's 100% more likely to show interest ,if it meant Chiarot was leaving

Only on CF does cap relief not equal cap relief when COL takes on more cap and gives up the 1st rd pick. They let Burroughs walk once they aren’t paying to bring him back and they you know need centers. COL never does the proposed trade.

Don’t forget they actually take on more cap, create a hole at 3C and pay for a dude they let walk for free a couple of years ago.

Real question: How bad was Lee last year?

Like I know he under produced by a fair margin but what would be his cap hit if someone gave him a contract this off-season? As a cap dump he seems like a good option but a 1st rounder honestly sounds steep.

skating is his biggest issue and with the game getting faster as time goes on his skating is dipping noticeably every year. Another reason to me is we need a new captain and if we want to even contend next year getting Lee 7 million off is the way to go imo

I've seen numerous mock trades made by both NYR and Detroit fans involving Trouba for Holl or Maata. Believe what you want but that's just what I've seen.

I've seen quite a few Detroit fans accepting or proposing them as well.

I head Friedman talking about it too, he seems skeptical and points out Trouba's never had to submit a list until today.
Basically he said only a few people know Trouba's interests or which teams he'd block and that unlike with WPG where both wanted out by the end
Trouba's Wife's Career's in NYR and rather then uproot them he'll block trades and might play the bad guy to ensure they dont.

Basically it sounded to me like if NYI , NJD or BUF arent interested he's not going to make it easy on them to move him given he can block half the NHL with 16 team NTC.
Lets face it, there is about 8-10 teams tops who can Fit Trouba another few who would make major changes to acquire him.

Youi're biggest hope is he leaves MTL off thinking we're not interested and also we're a 1 hour flight away so if he fly's private his commute will be less then the time it takes to drive from MTL's Suburbs to the rink in the morning for most players. So there's a number of reasons he'd not waste a pick blocking them but the reality is we need a Trouba to play with Hutson like Super Bad. So that might be unwise of him to make such a call. But according to Friedman thre's a feeling he's not going to choose teams he will go to, he's going to choose teams who can afford to or want to take him.

It comes down to Leverage and what NYR will do for us
Acquiring a player who fights being traded is never ideal
But MTL moving Kovacevic was smart as they traded him to make room while also adding depth to one of the few teams Trouba would be happy to join .
But ultimately i think NYR cut their losses and just cant re-sign Lindgren which they really want to.
Trouba staying forces them to trade Lindgren maybe even to DET given he has no Trade Protection and that line of communication is still fresh with Stevie Y

There's many reasons why Trouba isnt likely to move
Just like there was many reasons for him to fight for his Protections
But if he was to go he'll do it kicking and screaming reminding everyone who signs with NYR how this GM treats its Leadership
Its truly a Lose Lose situation for NYR as the stink of it will be around long after the cap relief is done
