They NEED to start taking the first step forward, otherwise you'll never dig yourself out of this hole. This team is bad and is setting young players up to fail and ultimately ruin their development.
I think 1 or 2 more solid top 6 veteran forwards in Free Agency is the way to go. I think it's also best to assume Couture is out at least to start the season. I like Walker a lot, but also maybe Stephenson and/or Domi in the top 6 on short term deals could really create a much more hardworking forward group.</div></div>

Can use another lottery pick player to add to the rebuild. 😁

I expect Grier to take a cap dump or 2 if he's getting good value with it.

Like a 1st round pick or good prospect.

Or maybe a good young player already in the NHL just needing an opportunity to play more.

Celebrini and Smith will add some excitement and we'll win a few more games.

Grier likely signs a UFA or 2 depending on need and fit.

I don't want any long term UFA's. 😬

Just stop gaps and placeholders.

But make no mistake about it.

We'll be bad again. 😁</div></div>

Appreciate everyone's feedback here. I look at this offseason as a critical turning point, not dissimilar to what they Giants should have done last year (they didn't upgrade the team last year, so this past offseason, none of the marque free agents - Ohtani, Yamamoto, etc. - wanted to sign with them). If we want to be players in 2-3 years time, we need to start laying the foundation now (not to mention providing support for Celebrini &amp; Smith). For example, no way Draisaitl signs with us next year if we haven't made significant steps forward this year. To that end, in my opinion, Grier should sign two veteran forwards and two veteran D-men. My ideal adds would be Stephenson, Joshua, Matt Roy, and Walker. A deeper NHL squad also allows for more effective development of the younger guys at the AHL level (Bystedt, Halttunen, Musty, Graf, Edstrom, etc.). We still miss the playoffs and are in the lottery, but not top 5.
