  1. Laine, Patrik ($2,700,000 retained)
  2. Severson, Damon
CBJ
  1. McGroarty, Rutger
  2. Pionk, Neal
  3. Schmidt, Nate
Additional Details:
It’s McGroarty for Laine with salary retained on Laine to reflect his current value. Severson fits the Jets competitive window, and Columbus takes on two short term bad contracts to get out from the long term Severson contract which will be a bad contract before they’re in their competitive window. The money works, and it’s a trade that should help both teams based on where they’re each currently at in their competitive cycle.
2.
MTL
  1. Iafallo, Alex
Additional Details:
Montreal is stacked at D, Winnipeg has too many forwards. Iafallo is a Swiss Army knife type player that can play up and down Montreal’s lineup and help the team be more competitive. Both players have one season left before becoming UFAs. Iafallo probably has more left in the tank, but Savard fills a need on the Jets’ 3rd pair without blocking Salomonsson after this upcoming season.

No thanks. Savard is too important for us and we have no place for Iafallo

The value offered in the Savard trade is good.
The needs for Montreal don't line up though, but value is fair.
Cheers

What 12 forwards does Montreal have that are better than Iafallo?

You definitely have a plethora of young D prospects, and Savard is blocking one of them. The Canadians are not a playoff them this upcoming season, so why block a young defenceman needlessly when this is the ideal time to get rookies experience (I.e., before your team is in its competitive window).

would laine really waive to go back to winnipeg? columbus would probably bite your hand off for that deal doesn't really seem like a smart move for the jets even if laine was willing to go

Who is Savard blocking exactly? We have a ton of LHD, but not RHD. Savard isn’t blocking any of our young guys on the right side, plus are young D play really well along side Savard. If anyone is blocking our young D prospect from playing time it’s Matheson, not Savard

There was a report by Kypreos that the Jets had spoken to Columbus about Laine and that Laine would accept a trade back to Winnipeg because he enjoyed his time there. The problem was Wheeler who was since bought out. Also, Laine and Ehlers are good friends.

I think bringing Laine back improves the odds that Ehlers signs an extension and remains a Jet beyond this upcoming season. Ehlers and Laine were very good together on the ice too, so it has the potential for a very good scoring line.

Reinbacher, Mailloux, and Barron are the prospects. Harris, Guhle, and Xhekaj can all play LD or RD, and then there’s also Kovacevic.

I could see WPG trading for Laine but I think Ehlers is being shopped, so might not be a factor in his decision to go back/for WPG to acquire him. Of course, if the reason for Ehlers being shopped is that he wants out/not really looking to re-sign at this time, then acquiring Laine would make a whole lot of sense since it should help keep him around. That being said it could be related to his injuries and Laine hasn't been very healthy himself over the past years either, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were swapped for each other. McGroarty is probably more likely to get moved for a player with RFA status/term anyways something like Rossi for McGroarty is probably something that would happen.

Reinbacher and Mailloux are going to have to earn their time, no guarantee that either will play in the NHL next year. Having a guy like Savard with experience on the blueline isn't really a bad thing, they would probably then move him at the TDL for futures.

The habs wpuld just move savard for picks.

Iafallo is a negative value player he would have been 11th among forward in points per game on the habs and thats not factoring in that pezz whos below him fights people.

He would get healthy scratched 20-30 games

Iafallo would not have been 11th in PPG among Habs forwards. Suzuki, Caufield, Slaf, Newhook, Gallagher, Evans, and Armia were better that’s it

This was also a down season for Iafallo, who played at a 40-50 point pace in 3 of the last 4 seasons prior to this one (and the one he didn’t he had a 38 point pace). He’s also very good defensively

He was below dach monahan and roy as well.

Iafallo has never broken 20 goals or 45 points and he will be 31 a coupke months into the season.

He is negative value to the habs at his cap hit.

Dach played 2 games. That doesn’t really count

Roy didn’t show up when I looked at their team stats for some reason but you’re right about that one

Monahan I didn’t count because he was traded

Dach we know is ahead of him though

Roy is better and a francophone.

And even if monahan doesnt cpme back theres still dvorak and anderson who were in the same range as Iafallo production wise and dvorak is a centre and anderson they arent benching for Iafallo.

Again you would have to pay the habs to take him. Savard they can easily flip for picks.

Sorry, I didn’t realize Montreal’s forwards were so good. Amazing they’re that good and they still missed the playoffs finishing last in the Atlantic and second last out of all the Eastern teams.

Sure Iafallo isn’t good enough to supplant any forwards from the Habs’ all star roster. LOL.

It’s not that Montreal forwards are awesome, there’s already too many bottom 6 forwards making $3 million or more and not producing. Anderson, Dvorak, Gallagher, Armia. We don’t need more.

You know who has a better points-per-game last year than Iaffalo? David Savard.
