So I am a Habs fan, and biased. And frankly, I don't really want to trade Matheson this season. He is offesnively gifted, skates like the wind, and his contract is soooooo low.
But from NJ perspective, I simply don't get it. I don't think either team would do it.

As a Habs fan I take this and run.
But !!!
Habs defense would be worse this year. Unless guys like Guhle/Mailloux/Hutson blow the doors off. So it would be weird to trade away Matheson and acknowledge we would have an even worse year

My guess (if this were the trade to happen) is that Armia's contract would be retained as well, but from a MTL standpoint I like it.

That probably means that Devils fans won't...
I have RARELY seen trade proposals on here where both fanbases agree.
And the reason why there are so few trades in the NHL.

Personally, I don't see NJ doing this. They don't really need Matheson. I don't even think they do this if it's just the 10th overall.

Oh look another of those AI written churn websites that pull stuff from fan proposals on capfriendly and pretend it’s a real rumour.

Yep NJD is TOTALLY looking for a PPQB, we totally don’t have 2 of them already.

Take a Quick Look through that site. Virtually all of the “rumours” are just from the trade machine on capfriendly.

Written by AI (or a copy and paste system with names changed), and pulled straight from capfriendly.

All hoping for a few clicks and a bit of ad revenue.

If one were to believe this, it would also probably means Devils are trading Dougie Hamilton and Luke Hughes as well and Peter Chiarelli has magically transported into the body of Tom Fitzgerald.

Hab fan to other Hab fans.

If Matheson would go to the Devils he would be on the 3rd pairing. It doesn't make sense. Simple enough. Struble/Harris/Xhekaj(if I would be a Devil fan I would go for this guy, but majority of us Hab fans LOVE this guy) makes more sense to be a bottom 3rd pairing guy.

Remove Devils first & Matheson
add Struble
Retain on Armia

That makes both sides probably a lot closer.
