If trade clauses are waived

There would have to be a contract ready for Marner in place.
Korpisalo would need to waive or have Toronto as an available team to go to.
But yes, Leafs would flip the CBJ to Ottawa for Korpisalo, Bos 1st, Ott 1st(7OA). I just don't see CBJ going for Marner. I think they need the foundation before taking on expensive players.

I would prob run with Dach and Dvorak as the centers (if Roy would come over) for the PK.

MARNER TO NASHVILLE WITH ASKAROV TAKING THE HELM AS TEAM STARTER
Just simple suggestion.
Since Askarov is young, you should try and put a veteran goalie with him as backup with playoff experience.

I understand your logic, but I strongly disagree.
You can put Anderson in more slots on the team compared to Risto. If he would have 1or 2 years, it's a different conversation.

I see why Philly would do this, since they have young Defense that can be brought up, but this is the same reason why Montreal wouldn't do this. Montreal declines.
Ristolainen is blocking the path of young D.

Trade up for Demidov
I think having a chance to get Demidov, Lindstrom, Eiserman or Iginla at Number 5 is a good start for Montreal. No need to trade the other picks to select for sure Demidov. I think the CBJ select a defense.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Subbanator7667</b></div><div>My theory would be Levshunov because Chicago will still be a bottom 5 team next year. #1 center one year, #1 dman this year and then you have some really good options next year with elite forwards looking to dominate the top 5 in 2025 whether that be Haggens, Misa or Frondell</div></div>
Agreed. I'd like to add that Bedard is already a small top line player. Need some size on the wing to support him.

As it stands Montreal declines the trade offer.
No need for another LHD. Need of a young top 6 forward.

Montreal is overfilled with Defense, they don't need more.
What they need is a top6 forward. habs_need_Scoring specified Boldy cause he fits that need and age. Montreal would be better to keep Anderson and the picks. Select Lindstrom themselves.

Not the player, but the contract. I think Habs would truly do this. I just don't think to have another 2 overpaid guys in the line-up for Flames would work other than working to get in the top 3 picks for the next 3-5 years. Also thought of Kadri and Gallagher on the same line is great (but like 4-6 years ago).

Marnville
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MacanBayangan</b></div><div>someone will take them for late round/future considerations so not really anything to discuss there. As for montreal, perhaps lily can be developed further taking regular top 4 minutes. There's good upside there and a 2nd and a cheap UFA isn't much to pay. Sounds like a win-win to me.</div></div>
Trust the devil you know. Habs knows that Kovacevic isn't flashy, but gets the job done in the Defensive zone. I also don't think Liljegren is worth a 2nd. Also adding Liljegren limits having Mailloux and Reinbacher making the next move. So again, to have Kovy as the 6-7 defense you can call up the other 2 easier than placing a Liljegren with 1.4(or plus depending on signing) in the press box.
So, with that said Montreal says no thank you.

I don't understand why you would want Jones' contract.
Should aim for a guy like Pietrangelo if we assume anything can happen.

Leafs Marner amp Tavares Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Subbanator7667</b></div><div>Why is Toronto adding when giving up the much better player</div></div>
Because they need to pay to get rid of Marner contract. The player is not the issue, the cap hit is.
I just don't understand why retaining any, trade to a 3rd team to retain and trade prospects or picks there. Typically, playoff teams don't retain.

Both actually. If Kerfoot would have played most of the second half with Matthews(he would have had more points like Domi). Issue is Leafs wanted more grit and got it with both Domi and Bertuzzi.
Now the issue is both signed one-year deals. Chances are one of them is going to resign one isn't. My bet is Domi resigns.

You should on focus on the Isles, don't worry why the Leafs would do that deal. Once you understand it's not just about hockey and it's about managing contracts, then we'll bring in reasons for the other teams.
