10am Conference hope it is not about Chiarelli

Created by: StDetroitBlueWings
Team: 2024-25 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 13, 2024
Published: Jun. 13, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I'm just posting nonsense at this point. Take the trades with a grain of thought. Put minimal effort into the values as I no longer care with the site coming down anyway (RIP CapFriendly, and screw and Caps)

Whatever this conference is somewhat has me worried

Army stepping down/President? Steen AGM?

As long as it isn't Chiarelli I will be able to sleep tonight
Trades
1.
STL
  1. Kulich, Jiri
  2. Novikov, Nikita
  3. Strbak, Maxim [Reserve List]
  4. 2025 1st round pick (BUF)

  1. Buchnevich, Pavel
  2. 2025 2nd round pick (STL)

Think it's too much Sabres fans? Don't really care. Y'all need to make the playoffs. This FO is desperate and desperation causes overpays like this. And the Blues thank you
Pre draft would be 2024 1st + prospect like Novikov/Kulich, Blues can add a 2nd
2.
STL
  1. Bennett, Sam
Additional Details:
Florida cuts cap to try to resign Reinhart. Blues get a 2C. Add picks to balance it out (would imagine just some 3rd-5th rounders. Play hardball since Florida is in a tough situation)
FLA
  1. Faulk, Justin ($2,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
3 more seasons at 4.5. Cost controlled middle pairing for a team likely losing a few defenders this offseason. Could do Leddy as well

You don't have enough RHDs to fill a roster...

Imagine they did... even as a Blues fan I wouldn't want that. Just means another potential website probably gone

That is far too much from the sabres. Take out strbak and novikov and probably switch the 25 to a 24 first since the extension is in place.

Wasn't even focusing on the roster construction. Just can call up Kessel and then move Tucker to RD. Not an issue there. Also have Johannsson who they signed to potentially slot in

He could put Kessel and Perrunovich in roster. Don't think this full post was that serious hence the Wash trade

I might be wrong, but Buch can't sign the extension until July 1, 2024 which is after the 2024 draft. I could swear there's been trades with handshake extensions in the past but I'm not certain.

The extension can't happen until after the draft, which is why it's the 2025 1st and a bit more. The biggest complaint is anything being an overpay with the 2024 1st because of no extension, although it could be an implied extension since I don't see them doing a trade without something at least in place. With a guaranteed extension, it'll cost more, hence adding Novikov and Strbak. Is it still a lot? Of course. I'd rather over-ask than under-ask. The whole point of trade discussions. Overshoot because you never know, then use the discussions to narrow it down. Probably my favorite part about this site is some people and the lack of truly understanding how a trade works. Initial proposal should and will always be too much. That's why it leads to discussion

There was minimal seriousness about the trades. Some thought went into it but not much. Still too early in the morning and this press conference on my mind. But yes... screw washington

All fair points. My concern is that the Sabres defensive prospect pool is thin and trading two of them brings it almost down to zero. I like strbak a lot being a big rhd which the sabres will need.

This. Sure theres the whole thing saying you cannot, but everyone knows it still happens. Army will talk to Adams about what kind of extension Buch is looking for and if Adams is okay with it, could pull the trigger. Just nothing can be signed until July 1

Then could keep Strbak and we can take Novikov. Just shift the 2nd to a 3rd and could still be fine with it.

Possibly? But just seems odd how they announce it late at night and say it's a major announcement with hockey operations

Because they didn't make this Trade, not trading both Novikov and Strbak in this Trade. Throw McCarthy in!
Kulich, McCarthy 2025 1st
Buch and keep your 2nd

Don't know a thing about a McCarthy. What's the scoop on him? Would still heavily prefer Novikov since he's left side and that's our biggest weakness. Can keep Strbak if the 2nd changes to a 3rd

So:
Buch and 3rd
Kulich, Novikov, 2025 1st

Weekes posted a picture of Steen in a quote tweet of the announcement. PuckPedia clarified that they weren't involved in this after originally tweeting the eyes. I was thinking it could be an ECHL affiliate but after the Weekes tweet it's probably Steener. And from what I've heard there wasn't a press conference last time they announced an AGM so..... bigger.

If that's all it is, I'll be a little upset. Kind of hoping Steen gets promoted to Assistant GM. Bold prediction would be Steen is GM and Army is president of hockey operations and just watches over Steener as he learns the ropes

I think the Buchnevich trade is good. I would do it.
I'd try and say keep your 2nd and I'll keep Strbak though.
Would offer Johnson in lieu of Novikov if you wanted more value to make that happen.
Our D prospect pool is just really thin already.
