Trades
1.
WSH
  1. Knight, Spencer
Additional Details:
Panthers open up some salary to run it back
FLA
  1. Shepard, Hunter
  2. 2025 2nd round pick (BOS)
  3. 2025 3rd round pick (CAR)
Additional Details:
Capitals send the Panthers a capable backup or AHL starter along with a second to take a cap dump and hope that Knight finds his game again. Third thrown in to sweeten the deal
2.
WSH
  1. Kaliyev, Arthur [RFA Rights]
  2. Spence, Jordan [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
LA cannot resign Spence and mutually agree to trade him. Kaliyev is not working out in LA and they get some value for him.
LAK
  1. Dowd, Nic ($500,000 retained)
  2. van Riemsdyk, Trevor
Additional Details:
LA gets a great defensive defenseman along with a world class bottom 6 center for all situations of the game.
3.
WSH
  1. Hämeenaho, Lenni [Reserve List]
Additional Details:
Asking prices for other goaltenders is astronomical so the Devils grab Kuemper in hopes he bounces back behind a better team. On top of that he has a Cup and knows what it takes and he has the Experience that the young guys lack.
NJD
  1. Kuemper, Darcy
  2. 2025 5th round pick (CHI)
  3. 2026 4th round pick (VGK)
Additional Details:
Capitals move Kuemper, as Lindgren has become their starter and they previously traded for knight.
4.
WSH
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (TBL)
NSH
  1. Jensen, Nick
  2. 2024 3rd round pick (BOS)

LA can't re-sign Spence so they go out and acquire a RD that costs more than the contract you gave him? Doesn't seem to add up. I think a Kaliyev for Dowd swap makes plenty of sense, though. Overall, nice to see some novel trade ideas!

It was not a money thing in my mind, more of a just cannot agree with management and wanted to change scenery. Probably not the case but its an idea

I can’t see the Devils doing that unfortunately.

If they haven't addressed the goaltending due to the asking prices many teams have on top end starters they may make that move looking for Darcy to find his game on a better built team

A 2nd for a mediocre 33 year old D-man? NSH definitely declines

I might just not be understanding this- (sorry in advance), but your write up in the Panthers trade...who is the cap dump? If Spencer is (which I assume so), shouldn't the pick(s) be going the other way around?

He is the money that the panthers are moving out but he isn't truly a cap dump as he still has potential.

I actually like the idea of grabbing Knight if the caps move on from Kuemper. Split him with Lindgren 41/41.

It would be the best thing we could do but it would be a hard summer to have that plan out.

If Kuemper gets moved in a separate deal that makes sense, it would be a good idea for them to give it a look. It's just gonna be tough to get him moved right now with that cap hit.

I think Kuemper to NJ, San Jose or LA could make sense but it will be tough to make happen

Spence doesn't have arbitration rights. Los Angeles currently has only two NHL-qualified RhDs under contract, plus Brandt Clarke. The Kings won't be trading Jordan Spence unless and until they re-sign Matt Roy (or sign his replacement). And Spence for van Riemsdyk is a step backwards.
