Interesting take but if something like this were to happen Podz would be lower on your depth chart. Probably Hogs on line 2 and Podz on four with Kuzy on three

Yeah that's to much. I think Hoglander or a 1st plus smaller piece for Necas is what you're looking at.

In what world? UFA rights have next to no value, and the rest for Necas seems pretty fair.

An unsustainable shooting percentage 3rd liner, a bust, and a late first?

That's fine. Canucks don't need to overpay. I do not see you getting more back than the Reinhart or Fiala trades.

Canucks pass

Hoglander + 1st for Necas favours Carolina

Podz + the UFA rights for Drury is probably fair, but the Canucks just extended Podz and management is still high on him so I don’t think they’d move him

There is no way Canucks are doing this trade with Carolina.
Trading Hronek for Necas would make a lot of sense.

Canes don't have any interest in Hronek if they can get Pesce done, which they're reportedly trying

Have to pick one of Hoglander or Podkolzin. Or drop the 1st.

Canes aren’t in the position Buffalo and Minnesota were in. They are trying to do a quick retool and get right back to contending

They aren’t looking for futures

I'm not the one who made the proposal for young players or picks, that was a Canes fan. The point is this proposal is a huge overpay and the Canucks have no reason to over pay for Necas.

How is it an overpayment? 2 bottom sixers and a 1st is market value for Necas. Drury for Lindholm's rights is about right too.

Canes are looking for a Top4 Dman as the return for Necas. Thats what has been reported. Which is why if Hronek is the piece going to CAR, then CAR needs to add. If Hronek is not involved then a 1st round pick is the absolute max return.

No, LeBrun reported they're looking for a top six forward, not a D man. They want to keep one of Pesce and Skjei, and that would mean any D return is just pointless. You think Necas is ONLY Worth a 1st? That's a joke

Dregger reported a Top 4 Dman as the return. Necas is a 50-55 point winger and his camp wants out of CAR so they lose leverage, 1st rounder max.

LeBrun said they want a forward upgrade. Necas doesn't want out either, he wants top line minutes. A role Carolina can give him. They have complete leverage because they have arbitration eligibility here, and can force a contract. He's a 60+ point center.

Just cuz a guy takes a few faceoffs (literally a few) and has a career 41% faceoff win percentage doesnt make him a center. Just cuz a guy gets more than 60 points once in 5 seasons doesnt make him a 60 point player. By this logic, Brock Boeser is a perennial 40 goal scorer and the return has to be at least 2 1sts and a couple middle 6 guys. There are numerous wingers that are hitting UFA status this year that are better than Necas and know how to play without the puck too so I dont even know why VAN is trying to pay for him.

Necas actually plays as a center, and had a 60+ point pace in multiple seasons. That's the big difference here. If you don't know this, that's fine, but don't try and act like you know more about Necas than Canes fans do at this point of his career
