Interesting Lineup

Created by: Jacketsman61
Team: 2024-25 Columbus Blue Jackets
Initial Creation Date: May 4, 2024
Published: May 17, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
It is a bit of a tight fit but it is possible. This would be an extremely deep team and could be a real contender. Again not a likely scenario but would be interesting.

Jackets take Anton Silayev at 4 OA

Can we please stop with the Reinhart attempts? We've got enough high priced wingers.

We could but you do have to consider that whoever is the new GM is likely going to be aggressive in getting this team into the playoffs. Not saying we actually would sign Reinhart but you do have to agree this team would be very deep and a threat, especially if Laine stays healthy.

Leafs pass, they have a couple ELC guys coming in and they don’t need to waste assets on an unproven player like Nylander who wouldnt make the team significantly better

Red Wings decline.

Already have Cat.

Yzerman doesn't usually like small wingers.

I actually think the opposite. Part of the reason that Jarmo stifled our teams' development by signing Prov and Sev was needing to get into playoffs since he was such a long tenured GM. Whoever is hired won't have that and should actually let the young players cook.

Danforth is a very effective 4th line guy that is also can flex to C. He is exactly the kind of guy Detroit needs. He is also fairly inexpensive.

No. Jarmo’s biggest issues was always never using our cap space to our advantage. We would have cap space and he would be very hesitant to dip into FA. He also hired Torts (which I did like) but really cost us high end FA. We need to develop guys yes, but those players should be developing at Cleveland or in college. All the players on the team in this scenario are going to play meaningful minutes.

Actually he isn't needed in Detroit.

Detroit has more than enough bottom 6 guy's and if he were as good as you claim you wouldn't be trading him.

He's the kind of player teams sign in UFA.

Not give up 3rd round picks for a 31 year old.

IMO this team is still not good enough to make the playoffs. Too young down the middle and not good enough on the back end.
