Calgary would need to be able to talk to Marner first to make sure a contract was in place. Marner has all the power in this case.

Yeah I agree that non of this is possible if Marner is uninterested...

I'd be surprised if CAL did this. I'm taking Weegar over Marner

A bunch of things would need to be worked out obviously (Marner NMC and CGY wanting an extension in place), but I feel like the Flames are a good landing spot for him. He'd bring back that offensive punch that's been missing since prime-Gaudreau left town. I think Flames fans would rally around him.

I thought he was fine in front of a shaky defence. If he has a great defence he can be a reliable backup in my opinion

Flames are not interested in Marner and there is almost no chance he's waiving there in a contract year

Highly unlikely, it's significantly more likely that Marner would have a 20+ point drop in production. Without a trigger man both Huberdeau and Marner are pretty obsolete. Calgary is very clearly entering rebuild and paying another player 10M+ to never have more than 30 goals is just moronic. On top of that Calgary isn't a Marner away from being a contender too (epecially if they lose Markstrom and Andersson in the process), and their 1st next year is top 10 protected from the Monahan trade. Lastly they are clearly in need of a 1st line center long term and those can only realistically be acquired through the draft.

Not to mention a trade like this would force Calgary to play Coronato in the minors next season due Calgary having far too many wingers
