I know. You have right. But huberdeau, a big contract, and the first pic, maybe Tij Iginla , it s not free.

I'll break it down for you:

Huberdeau is a bad contract but retaining 3.5 mil for 7 years is wildly idiotic, they're giving away by far the most valuable player in this deal which is Connor Zary (not debatable), giving up the 9th pick, and another first likely in the 25-29 range and what are we getting in return?

Josh Anderson's horrible contract, a decent defencemen that may be a top 4 in the future, the 4th overall pick, and a 2nd.

This is so wildly in the Habs favour i'd rather you just draft Tij Iginla and we keep all our assets and pick likely a more valuable player at 9.

if I am the CEO of Calgary, tij iginla becomes very interesting for marketing. ticket sales, vests and on the ice, a top 6 winger that fans will follow with interest. to me, that makes sense. huberdeau, you're stuck with it for 7 or 8 years. 10.5 million. a mistake. you can either keep it and your mistake will last 7 years at $10.5 million, or $3.5 million. you have the choice. josh anderson is a liability too but for another 2 or 3 years. not for 7 years. zary, yes it will be good. but you cannot receive if you give nothing. It’s an exchange of marketing and payroll. Montreal would send Harris, too. I saw that a #3 or depth defender was missing. Montreal could also give other things. At number nine, I believe iginla will no longer be available. and for me, iginla is a natural for calgary. I don't think this exchange will happen. but that's what I want.
last point, it’s for fun. I'm not the general manager in the NHL 😄 have fun too. take that cool 😉

Zarys ceiling is higher than Iginlas , and has already proven to have a decent floor. Zary has also proven that he can be THE guy on the ice and lift previously deadweight guys into functional pieces, i.e Kadri. As much as I’d love to have Iginla, Zary is probably the most important player on our team rn. Huberdeau isn’t that bad either. Sure he’s making 6mill more than he should, but he still provides offence and seems like a cool guy. He’s also a leader in the room.

I get where you’re coming from, but it seems like an overpay to get 5th OVA in a weaker draft class and dump Huberdeau. Especially since we’re taking back Andersons contract too.
