No thanks . We shouldn’t be trading a top 40 pick for 1 year of a great 4th liner

Washington needs as many high picks as possible there’s no way they are moving 1sts or 2nds

Barron at most gets a Lindqvist type value and that's a late 1st, even that would be a stretch at this point.

This guy gets it. The biggest thing for us right now is to start building the post-ovi future before we are sitting there as the new San Jose

Cool
How much for Ovi then ?
Or are you resigned to be the most hated Franchise in the world for wasting his final years?
He's trying to do great things and if WSH isnt , its not fair to hold him there for a Tank after all

He doesn't want to be traded. He came out and said that after the playoff loss. Personally if he wanted to go to a different team for his final years (if the package were in the Caps favor) I would do it for him. But he literally just said he wants to finish his NHL career with the Capitals and then play a season in Russia for the Dynamo.

Additionally, keeping our firsts and seconds is not tanking. Selling the guys over 25 and getting futures is tanking so you are not correct with saying the capitals are tanking by being smart with their future options for when Ovi does indeed retire.

Im sure he did cause i doubt they're willing to give up building
Leonard looked NHL ready like a Men among Boys in the NCAA

Dowd trade cancelled out Van Riemsdyk trade with a 2nd going out and coming in
WSH would be giving up a 1st in this scenario when WSH would trade down from a 13th OA pick in round 1 for a 17th OA pick in the 3rd round.
So they'd be dropping 2 rounds and 4 picks

WSH in this scenario seems to be Trading down vs trading away.
Dowd can be replaced by Monahan among a plethora of others and you have 7m to play with to do it.
Trevor Van Riemsdyk can also be replaced via free agency but really is being upgraded to Barron.

Barrons NHL numbers were no different then Harris, Struble,Xhekaj or Kovacevic
He went down cause laval needed RD not LD after an injury to Bowey i believe it was?
Harris and Kovacevic wasnt Waiver Exempt
That left Struble, Xhekaj or Barron. Struble's basically David Savard 2.0 so we needed him blocking shots.
Xhekaj was playing good hockey after his return from a slow start after his AHL call up so sending him back down wouldnt work.
Barron went down cause for the first time everyone was healthy on our blue line and he had the most flexibility but would also play the biggest role in AHL filling a need after an injury.

Fans on here maybe gave up on him
But MSL nor Coach Houle seem to be counting Barron out at all.

Personally i'd rather just trade you Mike Matheson for a 1st and Sutter straight up(Sutter's a good AHL leader, i want Bourque replaced)
Give WSH their boost on the back end and the Power Play so if nothing else he helps Ovi become the NHL's All Time Goal Scorer doing it all in WSH
I'd much rather keep Barron who was can build into a Matheson in time rather then just give barron away to trade up 2 rounds
