What makes you think Byfield would sign an OS over returning to LA, even on a bridge? I'm sure he's loving life playing with Kopitar.

LA would 100% match this.

Also lol at assuming you could get crosby, letang, and dump anderson for a pair of late firsts

I don't know about Byfield, but there's no way that Pittsburgh trade would happen. Even if Crosby were available, Pens would need Montreal's 2024 1st, especially if you're expecting them to throw in Letang and dump Anderson on them lol.

There's 0% chance Byfield could be had with an offersheet short of the 4 1sts range, and I'd be shocked if LAK lets him go unsigned past the draft. He's the biggest variable in terms of cost. They'll need to know how much money they have available to spend (depending on bridge vs long term), before they get to free agency

I suggest you make post of a Kings team in 24/25. They could fit Byfield in at 8m. Of course an player doesn't have to sign an offer sheet

I think you guys need to remember that an OS is going full aggro. MTL has a lot of the "young core" not locked up, so succeeding on an offer sheet just invites LA to make retaliatory OS's to run up contracts until MTL can't afford to match.

I'm guessing this is a troll attempt based on the emphasis of the Byfield offer sheet whilst ignoring the complete lunacy of the PIT trade offer being even remotely considered.

At 8 mil and change LA would just sign him and walk away from someone else.

The Pens trade did get a genuine LOL out of me, so congrats.

I don't think Edmonton is the right target for a Harris trade. The offer seems fair, however.

I want to see the LA 24/25 ACGM that signs byfield to this deal… it does not work. It requires dumping Dubois which is going to be exceptionally difficult

What is a realistic offer for Crosby and letang… 3 firsts. It’s pretty close dude

There is no way that gets you Crosby and Letang, LA would also find a way to fit Byfield, they’re not letting him get offersheeted (not that it is likely to happen anyways)

Byfield is likely going to get an AAV similar to this from LAK regardless.

They would also move literally any other asset on the roster before they let Byfield go.

They have 22.5 in cap space and can fill out the RD holes with internal options if they want, leaving just goalies and a 4th line to fill out after signing Byfield

Did you even see the trade you posted? It's a massive cap liability in Anderson- who requires at least a single 1st to unload. Might take more. Then it is another variable 1st with CGY 2025. Then a PIT 2nd that is also variable in 2025. Do you understand how immediately FSG would reject this trade proposal if Dubas brought it to them? Crosby alone nets ownership millions in profit over his paid out salary. Dubas couldn't make those trades without ownership approval and ownership isn't approving it without a justifiable return that greatly enhances their rebuild. Which this absolutely does not outside of brilliantly unrealistic drafting from Dubas. Letang is also worth at least a late first on his own as he is still an above average 2RD on a fair cap hit. Fair offer with your Byfield acquisition included would be something like this: WPG 2024 1st for Letang. 2025 CGY 1st to take Anderson. Then 2024, 2026, 2027 MTL 1sts and the 2nds in 2024 and 2026. Even that has a chance to be a massive profit loss for ownership depending on how late those picks are. Which is very possible if Crosby, Letang, and Byfield all play well for MTL.

LA probably thanks you for making this offer to Byfield and matches it in the time it takes to make a formal notification of a match wondering why Byfield’s agent signed it

It means they say goodbye to Matt Roy or get aggressive with Boston for a PLD deal.
