Description
Not selling, not buying, but a secret third thing.

You're not going to replace Sergachev unless you sell everything and go all in, and I think it's stupid to go all in for a run when you're not going to have one of your 2.5 competent defenseman the whole time.

That being said, this year doesn't have to be a complete waste. I think the best course of action would be to maximize the cap space we have by taking on good players on bad contracts with only one year of term remaining. Take advantage of the true buyers needing cap space.
Trades
1.
TBL
  1. Brodie, TJ
Additional Details:
The idea here is that this would be a pure cap dump for Toronto, made in tandem with some other trade to upgrade their D (Tanev, Hanafin, ect.)
TOR
  1. 2025 4th round pick (TBL)
2.
TBL
  1. Roslovic, Jack
Additional Details:
This is assuming Columbus wants to move Roslovic maybe we can take advantage of not needing retention to get him cheaper.
CBJ
  1. 2025 3rd round pick (TBL)
  2. 2025 6th round pick (TBL)

Leafs will pass even if we sell Brodie which is unlikely we’ll want a 3rd and a 5th for him

Fair, yes, but CBJ should have no problem retaining so I still think Jarmo should be able to pull a 2nd for him with 50% retention.

ehhhhhh idk if he's got that kind of value. on his absolute BEST day he's a middle six winger on a good team and he's only had so many of his best days. most of his NHL tape is at center.

i don't see a ton of contenders itching for middle six right wingers. i know NYR needs a 1RW which is not rosie. we'll see how the market shakes out though, like we saw with tampa - injuries can change needs in an instant.

honestly i think tampa suddenly became provorov's number one most likely destination with some retention. that year of term after this one is great insurance against sergachev's recovery window.

If TB helps Toronto cap wise question 1 why? Question 2 why give up limited draft capital when they're throwing in the towel on the season? Seems very illogical. Taking Roslivuc pretty much guarantees Stamkos is gone .
This is a horrible idea . They give up on the season pretty much give up anyway of extending Stamkos for Jack Roslovic ( mind bogglingly dumb) this make TB worse now and in the future . Good job

You're not helping Toronto as much as you're taking advantage of a team that has to cut cap to help yourself. Tampa needs someone on D on the Left side who can take some minutes if they want to do anything. And no one said anything about extending Roslovic, he's a ufa after this year, it has nothing to do with Stamkos's contact at all.

My point is you don't have to throw in the towel completely or go all in, you can take a tempered approach. You simply can't go in all year, we don't have the resources for that, but that doesn't mean the seasons a bust either.
