Not since he's found his stride with the Hurricanes... everybody has had a tough period of adjustment with the Hurricanes, especially defensemen. Orlov and Chatfield have been very good to elite for a third pairing. We'll give picks and prospects for Kuzmenko but I don't think parting with Orlov would be a good idea

Yeah, talk about burning bridges. I wouldn't mind having Kuzmenko on the Canes... he's an absolute pure goal scorer and would do very well as a top-6 option and would add a whole lot of finish that the Canes have been missing if we're able to work out some cap problems that would make it work (LTIR for Freddie). I do think that goaltending should be addressed first but if your able to get him then that would be a great add

He is in his sophomore slump year. He effort level has dipped some too. He is basically our version of bunting right now

the thing with the Habs pipeline is they have so much late 2nd-3rd talent. What Monahan currently brings on and off the ice is likely more valuable than adding to their depth with depth talent.

The Carolina return doesn't make sense, and the Canucks can't afford Orlov next year. The Montreal package is probably fair value for Monahan, but at the TDL, if they're willing to retain (which I think they will), Montreal can probably pawn him off to a team desperate to replace an injured player for a Cup run for a better return.
