Rebuild

Created by: Johnny03
Team: 2023-24 Seattle Kraken
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 11, 2023
Published: Dec. 11, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Seattle isn't good enough to contend in the West. Their run last year was great, but not sustainable. If the franchise wants to build long-term success, build it from the ground up. Not everybody can be Vegas. Even if they clinch a WC spot in the next few years, I can't see it translating to real playoff success sustainably. Build properly and enjoy the rewards in the coming years.

I could see them in a wildcard. Either way they're more of a placeholder, any contender w/ cap for a mid round pick.

I would make a nice offer for Larsson (50% retained) if Seattle is selling.

Definitely, 1st or 2nd + Mid level Prospect should get it done.

TB doesn't have the cap so, they make the 7 a 4 and Seattle retains $1,500,000

If that’s all the Kraken are asking for Daccord, first of all, that would be a mistake, and secondly, I have a hard time seeing the Canes not taking that.

Avs don't need a rental 3C. They need a 2C and RHD if anything.

I can't see Seattle being all that willing to sell Larsson, especially not that cheap. He's still an effective top pairing RHD with several years of good play left in him, and the Kraken don't really have an easy way to replace him. Seattle's been building since the expansion draft and will continue to do so despite this hiccup of a season, so I anticipate them aiming to return to the postseason in short order after reloading their team, with young players like Wright and Evans augmenting current core players like Beniers, Dunn, and McCann. In that context, Larsson would serve the Kraken better as an on-ice contributor than as a trade chip.

Why is Detroit giving up a 3rd for a 38yr old pond rocket?
