Do you know what other teams did to CHI in trades when CHI was at the top of the league winning cups every other year? They fleeced CHI every chance they got. All while CHI's revenue was supplementing the income of the smallest markets in the league and helping to revitalize the NHL through profit and commercialization. I'm not complaining, though. That is exactly how it should be. But, the point is, when you are at the top, no one is going to do you favors, even when you are paying their bills.

EDM may have had a very rough start to the season, but overall in this era of the NHL, they are at the top of the league right now and up against the cap. No one is going to do them favors. Especially not a rebuilding CHI team. All of the trades you have proposed would be massive favors for EDM. Now, I would love to see a generational talent like McDavid get himself a cup or two, but no one is going to hand it to him.

Here's the thing though. Chicago isn't in cap hell so they don't need to trade salary. They're nowhere near close to competing at the moment so they don't need to trade for the "missing piece". They've stockpiled a plethora of draft picks in the past few years so they don't "need" to acquire more via trade. They have a full roster (even with injuries) so they don't need to fill holes. There is ABSOLUTELY no reason Chicago needs to make a trade unless they get exactly what they want. That's why you'll see most of us assuming Chicago declines. This one is definitely one of the worst I've personally seen. Some bum and a late round pick for an already below league minimum former 20 goal scorer retained. This proposal is beyond preposterous.
