Elliott Freidman reports the Senators are expected to face punishment for poor communication with Vegas in the Dadonov trade. Many are suspecting a 1st. So a hockey team can cover up a sexual assault and get fined $2 million but a miscommunication on a NTC results in losing a high draft pick?

Wasn't it the Dadonov trade to Anaheim from Vegas that was the issue?

And wasn’t it on Vegas to know who is on his list! This is a joke and feel like they are out to protect Vegas and hurt Ottawa.

Waiting for the sharks to win the Littery and find out they get in trouble for HS of Vlasic and they lose their 1st 1st OA lol

Apparently, Ottawa never told them the list, kind of sounds like Vegas didn't even know that he had trade protection which they should have at least known lol, but guess GMs aren't sitting on CapFriendly. So, the Sens are getting the blame for that Anaheim trade getting nixed. How convenient that the League sprung this on the Sens after they got sold.

Edit: It seems that OTT told Vegas that Dadonov didn't submit his list on time when he actually did.

Isn't this stuff all made official to teams when trades are made of exactly all details pertaining to players involved? lol

Just seems like a shaft for Ottawa, Dadonov's issue was the attempted trade to Anaheim from Vegas, the Knights HAD to know Dadonov had some trade protection when they acquired him and who was on his list, this isn't adding up imo.

But it literally happened 2 years ago. The page is turned why are they investigating it now💀

It is supposed to be made known. Ottawa told Vegas that Dadanov submitted his trade list after the deadline which nullified it. They told Vegas he could be traded anywhere

I would assume they did know he had trade protection but OTT never told them what the list was, but then why didn't Vegas figure out who was on his list? Maybe the forgot or it's possible that they were completely unaware. Definitely smells though lol.

I'm sure the League started investigating before that but maybe wanted to wait until the SENS got sold which is greasy. The nixed trade happened on March 23, 2022 and the SENS owner passed 5 days later. So, my guess is that by the time the League started investigating, the Melynk sisters decided (or were advised) to sell.

Edit: It seems that OTT told Vegas that Dadonov didn't submit his list on time when he actually did.

Don't players renew their NTC each summer. This is poor communication between Vegas and Dadonov's camp and the Sens are being shafted for it.

If they lose their 1st, I'll be pissed.

Anyone else notice that stupid Sportsnet had a headshot if Nikolas Matinpalo instead of Pinto when they were talking about the Pinto situation in their video?

NHL not going easy on Ottawa. From the Pinto situation to this. Players almost get CTE from some plays and get only a 3-game suspension but a betting scandal for half a season in Pinto’s case and now a 1st round pick for a nullified trade from two years ago? Nuts.

The league would get so much backlash not just from the Sens, but from all of the teams.

I guess the punishment will depend on what the league believes happened on the scale of administrative f.ck up to deliberately misleading.

The Coyotes lost their 2020 second-round pick (49th overall) and their 2021 first-round pick (ended up being 11th overall) for breaking the combine testing policy back in 19-20 season. Back then the league felt (and coyotes conceded) that the conduct was "grossly negligent at best".

I can't see the Sens losing two picks, but I can see them losing a second round pick plus getting a fine if they unintentionally screwed up, as this probably isn't as bad as the Coyotes situation in terms of a gained advantage.
