Wouldn't Compher and the Hawks be much better off signing Illinois boy Compher for 4.5m rather acquiring 4.7m Murray?

I also think that he is going to sign a Copp Comp, super good comp and could easily get a 5.5-6m deal, that is the tendency of FA

Who cares, wouldn't TO be better off giving that money to ROR?

I guess we'll find out in the next few weeks, what ROR is worth, but I think ROR resigning with the Leafs as you suggest is more realistic.

Well considering it cost very little to move on from Mrazek, I imagine Murray wouldn't cost much of anything either. Your GM has set the market on what it will cost to move Murray. Thanks for that.

It costed you a first to move him, Matt should be no different at an even higher AAV

I don't see the Hawks looking to acquire any goalie at all really...maybe a veteran for the minimum to ride the bench in case of injury... They currently have (2) young goalies in Jaxton Stauber and Arvid Soderblom sharing ice time in Rockford. Both getting stints with the NHL club as well. Rumor around here is that they're also looking to sign Drew Commesso, BU's starting goalie soon to be playing against MIN in the Frozen Four. Having those (3) goalie prospects getting sufficient ice time will be their task.

You may not think TOR would have to give something up to shed Matt Murray, but it likely won't be to the Hawks unless you're treating him like a cap dump...in which they're going to ask for a lot. Look at the Mrazek trade for the starting point, but the Hawks really don't need or want another goalie this time around.

Compher will get Copp/Trochek money in UFA. 5.625 mil AAV. He'll capitalize on a shallow UFA pool. Good UFA Centers are always in demand. ROR likely re-signs with the Leafs.

As the Journey song goes....don't stop believing

But the Hawks are not taking Murray and the 6 million (and that is after Ottawa pays their 2 million) he is owed for free.

We also got the prospect we wanted with the pick you traded to us anyway... Dubas essentially dumped Mrazek (whom is way worse than Murray) for the same result

Dubas got the prospect he wanted... but the Hawks also got the prospect they wanted, who allegedly wasnt going to be there when the Hawks picked next, by multiple accounts. It's a win win trade for both GMs. That doesnt make it free

TOR fans staying delusional. How about CHI gives you a first for the privilege of eating Murray's contract.

But Dubas wasn't the one you need to convince to take the contract. In Davidson's eyes, he got value for the contract. In Davidson's eyes, it wasnt free. And he'll ultimately be the one you need to convince to take the contract.

Murray isn't going to Chicago for the reason that he isn't waiving his NTC (I wasn't talking about Murray at all, just about Mrazek) but the difference is, Dubas can (if he really needs to get out of the contract, just buy Murray out for 600K

It cost us 13 spots in the draft for 2 years of a worse goalie. A better goalie with only 1 year left costs way less if anything to move.

Leafs can always put him on waivers to see if there is any takers. Murray isn't waiving to some crap bottom feeder, idk why people don't understand this.
