It's highly unlikely that Philly will be contending for a playoff spot this season, so I can't really see them parting with the 5th overall pick in this year's draft for a rental.

You won't like to hear this, but Tyler Myers on the first pair is better than Luke Schenn.

It's easy to coin a player as a rental but you completely remove their value by doing so. He's a 100 pt C that can make a significant difference and Phili can be much improved on health alone.

The Hughes Schenn pair worked fine. Myers largely stuck to OEL throughout the year.

I'd prefer the team to make some moves like this. Not to compete next year but probably the following year where Schenn slides to the bottom pair (if he were kept around).

This is one of the better offers I’ve seen for a high pick. I think Philly would take it if they knew they could extend him…

Philly would also probably want to clear one of Coots/Hayes in a separate deal but as long as they have the cap space for Sanhiem next year I can’t see why this wouldn’t make sense

That said, I’d rather rebuild in Philly

Fortunately JVR expires so re-signing JT is an option. Or moving out another piece as well.

I think we both want a rebuild but probably won't get one! Lol
