A tremendous amount more. Laine is worth nothing. He's a negative for any team to add. And any trade with him comes with the max retention. Boqvist isn't much honestly. TL is better at this point. Letting Marner walk for nothing is a hundred times better than going anywhere near that Laine deal.

The exact answer is "nothing", because the Blue Jackets are not taking on the $12M AAV extension that Marner is sure to command AND covering $3.7M in retention for the next two years when we're extending our young talent. This isn't gonna work for Columbus.

CLB has no reason to add. The only marner deal that is going to happen is one where you lose the trade. No team is offering a package that you will jump at. They aren’t asking Mitch to waive unless they like the package. Marner has no reason to leave and in fact has more reason to stay even if all fans want him gone. If he agrees to a move it will be a situation where the team is still stacked on the PP so he can clean up for a good payday.
