Description
- Signing Jarvis and Necas to long term deals are the main priority.
- At the draft, trade for Laine as a change of scenery type deal.
- Re-sign Pesce over Skjei, as well as Chatfield as he has looked pretty good this season.
- Re-sign Martinook as he is a strong 3rd liner and part of the leadership group. Noesen has priced himself out.
- Deal Orlov to Chicago as he has not provided value comparable to his cap hit. Hawks need serviceable Dmen, and one year at 7.7mil isn't too much for them to eat.
- Trade Suzuki to Habs to unite the brothers while picking up one of the young Dmen that Montreal has too much of.
- Sign cheap depth to fill out fourth line and bottom pairing.
- Next year plan is for Alexander Nikishin to come over from Russia and take a role in the top 4

Hawks decline instantly. LD is their deepest position with prospects. And even if they would trade for Orlov, the Canes would have to include a high pick to have them eat that salary.

The Laine deal is bad, he's not going to work under Rod. He doesn't play defense and is never healthy.

Orlov's been very good, and he's made Chatfield look like an NHL defenseman, and you move him only to sign Chatfield to a boat anchor? No

Why are you giving away Suzuki for bad 3rd pairing defenseman that you are forcing to play in the top 4 and dumping Orlov, who is a top 4 D man in his own right? Completely backward logic.

Too much for Jarvis and Necas, neither player has done enough to justify that kind of cap hit yet. Jarvis might by years end, but not yet.

If Martinook asks for 3 million, he's moving on. He's not worth the 1.8 he makes now. Not enough for Pesce. Rumor is he wants 7x7, and there's a reason Carolina hasn't signed it. Pesce also doesn't play with Slavin.

Pass on Dermott, he's not good.

Blais has not worked outside of St Louis. No thanks.

I don't mind the Motte signing

Orlov would instantly become Chicago's best defenseman...

Love the Motte signing, I agree with Caniac 2000 on the Orlov, and prices for Jarvis and Necas.
