LOL, in what way? To overpay a free agent with only two years of term? He wont be able to find it in free agency or without giving up assets via trade. There has not been a single issue of Kane in the oilers locker room

Davidson isn't going to pass on a 20 goal scorer winger that comes off the books for the 2026 offseason, when he plans to make his splash in free agency

Please, he couldn’t get along with his teammates in Winnipeg or Buffalo. Then you factor in all his well documented off ice domestic issues… not exactly the type of character you want around a young rebuilding team.
Hawks decline.</div></div>
Lol hawks will not decline this if Kane becomes available, same team that employs seth jones with reports of 'locker room' problems. Plus he won the courst case against his wife, full custody. Hawks need wingers, and Davidson will take Kane

I don't care if you think the accusations of him being a "locker room cancer" are false. In business, perception is just as important as the reality, and CHI already has more controversy than they can handle. I have watched a few videos he did where he was working with charities and stuff, he does seem like an alright dude, for whatever that is worth. But the history is undeniable. Also, he has a full NMC, that I HIGHLY doubt he is waiving for a rebuild.
Though, CHI was supposedly kicking tires on Nichushkin at one point. So, I guess anything is possible.</div></div>
Remember that chicago also sent a 2027 4th round pick to vancouver, not the case here, just the second being sent. Also Kane will probably waive his NMC after being scratched in the SCF, along with no longer wanting to deal with the media here.

Free Agency swinging time
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EmailTruck</b></div><div>Mikheyev is considered a better defender and is coming off a down year. Kane might be slightly better next year, but it’s not a huge difference. Assuming the Hawks sign Lafferty (whose UFA rights they just traded for) and Nazar starts the season in the NHL, the Hawks will have 12 forwards already on the roster. They’ve got at least on RFA forward (Joey Anderson) who would make sense as a 13th forward and a handful of prospects in Rockford (Dach, Hayes, Lardis) who could make the NHL sometime next year. I expect only 0 or 1 more forwards to sign (or be traded for) making much more than a million dollars, so overpaying isn’t a huge deal for the Hawks. Maybe they do take on Kane, but he’s both taking up cap space and a roster spot for 25-26 too, and next offseason appears to be when Davidson makes a FA splash. I wouldn’t be shocked if the Hawks took on Kane, but there are a handful of reasons they may not.
Also, I would be shocked if they take Kane and it doesn’t take a 2nd round pick. You gave a lot of reasons why it’s like the Mikheyev deal but that involves a 2nd round pick, and the Hawks have made and will make so many high picks that a 3rd round pick just doesn’t move the needle much.</div></div>
The hawks are looking for wingers, and if we are having a discussion on if kane or Mikheyev is better is pointless, both are suitable wingers that can be good fits (a left and right winger)
Also, the hawks traded for a secound round pick in 2027, 3 years down the road compared to a 3rd round pick now. The availabilty of picks is a factor that GMs consider.

The Ducks 2 RHD are Gudas and Lindstrom. Both are far and away preferable. Ceci is of zero interest, and it’s not remotely close tbh. Glad you think he’s got some value. EDM is stuck with him unless they give an attractive enough pick to someone else to take him</div></div>
stats used for offense rather then defensive pairs. Anyway if the Ducks want to sign a D-man, they will have to overpay and overterm for a team that has not made the playoffs and that is the facts unless they can find some really really good value contracts. Ceci is a 1 year rental, not an overterm.

How? for mentioning the extra 3rd round pick? San Jose and Utah are two different teams with two different cap situations, if Utah feels on the fence thats where the extra 3rd rounder comes in.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EmailTruck</b></div><div>I'm not all that convinced that Kane is a better player than Mikheyev-- The Athletic's player cards, for instance, view them as equally good. Kane's still a bit more expensive (I'm not sure why Vancouver retained $700,000 but they did), but I imagine the Hawks would insist on a 2nd round pick, even if without retention, over a 3rd with retention. The other factor is, they already made the Mikheyev trade. Even if the Kane trade made just as much sense as the Mikheyev trade, the Hawks might have bigger priorities than making both trades.</div></div>
Kane had 13 more goals and 13 more points, also hawks are looking to upgrade on their wing side, and a rebuilding team isn't attrative to players unless they overpay and overterm. I dont see why hawks would not roll the dice on kane, both Mikheyev and Kane come off the books at the same time so they can still upgrade after those two are gone.

If Jake Walman is being traded as a dump for a second round pick, then a team that has 40 million in cap space and needs to hit the cap floor will probably take Campbell for the mentioned picks, maybe throw in a future 3rd.

Will gladly see ANA overpay if the alternative is Ceci. Especially if an overpay is the likes of Gudas’ 3x$4M. Happy selling</div></div>
I mean looking at Gudas he didnt have a single defensive pair partner where their GF% was above 40%, where as Ceci was, not to mention the numbers with fowler look abysmal. Ceci is an upgrade in some senses. The ducks wont be going fullout, while edmonton can view this as a dump, this isnt a dump intake for the Ducks

Also I dont see why sharks would be reluctant to take back kane, yea he had an issue with the previous core and coaching but its a new setting now. Also you guys took in Goodrow, for around a 3.4 million cap hit, I dont see why you would not take in Kane if you're looking for wingers.

And like I said, the Blies won't touch Kane. You deal him somewhere and use the proceeds to improve this Buch offer.</div></div>
Again, I guarentee there will be some return for Kane elsewhere in a 3 team trade, Kane as an asset is not even bad, 20 goal scorer. Just on Pavel, if the Blues do not trade him he will walk in free agency, the blues know that as well, he is going to command 8 million and above so they need to get a return on him. The reported ask for him was two first round picks and plus when he had 2 years left on his contract (frank seravalli), now he only has 1. So here the oil is giving up 3 picks, 2 prospects, and I would be down to throw in a current roster player. To say the Blues would not be 50/50 on this deal, is kinda laughable
