Gigantic 4-way deal between PHI EDM UTAH STL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>justaBoss</b></div><div>Like mentioned in the other one, when I did this I didn't remember was it Krug who rejected Philly, or STL the trade. But I mean Philly has interest, and since they showed last year that Philly ain't any worse than Blues perhaps Krug would be willing to reconsider now.
Skinner is more or less a fail safe for Philly, in case all hell breaks lose. Subpar goaltending killed their season last year out, so I would not count out them going after a tad more established goalie.</div></div>
Yeah it was Krug who rejected it, not STL. So I think that ship has sailed. Flyers (or any other team) doesn't have to prove that now we are worthy for you because we were as good as your current team. At least personally I wouldn't go for a player again who didn't want to join us year ago.
Can see where you are going with Skinner though.

Huge kudos on making this deal, honestly is an extremely in depth and well thought out plan addressing a few teams needs and making values work out decently well.
I think it dies with Nurse going to STL, even with them moving on from Krug idk if they'd want to take Nurse (I'm not a STL fan but just thinking from their POV).
EDM's POV if Drai is leaving I would probably do this.

Best bit about this explanation by the NHL is the fact it doesn't explain anything. The rule used here is not broken in any way.
Looks like the tweet icon doesn't work anymore.</div></div>
Well Duchene does interfere a bit with Georgiev (part Duchene, part Makar’s fault, they both played a part in Georgiev being out of position), however Duchene’s out of the crease so theoretically it shouldn’t matter that he interfered

Oh my goodness! 6 points in 9 games it's a christmas miracle! Kuzy has reverted back to his 2017 self. Just avert your eyes to the 7 points in 20 games he has before the playoffs.
He's brutal. The only time he looks good is when he's extremely sheltered and he sucks defensively.
No GM is going to look at him and say "yep... 4 goals in 9 games. If we pay a 1st+ for him he'll score 30!" If you genuinely believe a GM would pay the price of a 1st+ for a very mediocre 9 games you have got to put the bottle down.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Kuzy is currently scoring at a 30+ goal pace this postseason, scoring playoff style goals isn't a bad thing, and he SNIPED in game 4 of this series. He's been a great leader, and someone at the deadline when he's got inflated stats due to more ice time, will pay a 1st+. If you have eyes, you can see it</div></div>
Who is giving Kuzy an inflated role? He's washed. he can't play in inflated roles anymore. We traded him to be a temp 2C and he's currently been relegated to the 4th line because that's the only place he can play and produce the most mediocre offensive efforts.
Chicago wanted rid of Kane and Toews to change their culture. Trading for a washed ex-coke fiend won't be a part of the plan. We're either stuck with him or some shmuck GM will take for pennies.

If another round 2 exit
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>justaBoss</b></div><div>Yes, I know Utah ownership wants to change the direction of that team, but I'd like to consider a few things, such as
- possibility of players not being happy to move from Arizona to Utah, therefore potentially requesting trades to get a fresh start (granted Utah is also a fresh start so sucks for them who wanted to stay in desert lmao)
- ability to gain players to build around that are either already signed long term from the get-go or RFAs lined up for long-term extension (Necas, Kotkaniemi in this example)
- ability to use the stacked amount of futures they already have to better the team overall
I think Utah team will look a lot different from the Arizona team, with also some of the core players likely to change scenery...maybe. It's all what ifs at this point.
In my honest opinion, no competitive team should touch Kuznetsov, but there's no doubt in my mind some GM will be dumb enough to do so at "correct" price. This makes it a valid reason for Hawks to try that gamble...but I do agree that it makes sense for them to target KK as well. I do think tho that KK has more trade value than Kuzy, so direct swapping doesn't work.</div></div>
Kuznetsov's issues just saying "dont give him term"
He's Evander Kane'd himself into that situation
Doesnt mean he's not a piece that teams covet.
He is a really good player but at the right price like you said.
KK isnt gonna be that guy Utah needs.
CHI maybe as i suspect they grab Lindstrom giving them a strong solid Center core of Bedard,Lindstrom,KK and C.Dach for prospects worth a damn(there's likely a center im overlooking too)
Utah seems more like they're looking for Pacioretty, Stone, Pietraneglo types , you know ... Captains and Leaders.
I get Kuz has his draw backs but on special teams he has something to teach for sure.
But now that i say it out loud it doesnt pack as much punch as i thought.
But then you add Necas to the mix and suddenly its feeling solid again cause he's the Prize.
Really though Utah i expect to weaponize Cap and yes they may move some core players but i doubt it.
Utah is Beautiful and once you go there it is a place you want to live. There's Nature and a place Kids can be Kids
Less and Less places like that around these days. Weather is nice and the people are too , even if a little weird sometimes lol
TBH i expect them to try to land someone like Marner to be perfectly honest.
Maybe get involved in a way deal that leads to them getting something big like Nurse or Huberdeau or PLD or Gaudreau ,ext
There's a number of teams looking to move Contracts with high cap and term
There's also pending UFA leaders like Marner and Jaime Benn i'd be taking a look at as well.
It all comes down to what Cooley Needs assuming he's their Franchise player and they dont lets say Land Buuium or Levshunov building around them from the back end out.
Until that questions answered likely in the week before the draft when Utah's Gm has to deal with the Media .
Its an Exciting time to be a hockey fan this Draft, i cant lie.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>justaBoss</b></div><div>Fair points, but I'd counter with the possibility of getting a higher return for Kuzy near the deadline, if he plays well with higher ice time. It's a gamble for Hawks, with very little to lose since they're years away from being competitive still.
Honestly the team doesn't matter for the waiver pick ups. Just thought they'll get claimed over being sent to AHL.</div></div>
TBH Utah's New Owners have a different idea on how to build so Armstrong will be dealing a lot of assets he built up.
Utah isnt looking for a 4-5 year rebuild they want to use the assets they have piled up like VGK did post expansion draft
For that reason would Kuz make more sense with Necas in that package?
I'd argue KK fits CHI build timeline and gives them a reliable 3rd line Center for Faceoffs with potential to move up.
KK has a positive and sarcastic attitude that went over quite well in MTL and now in CAR. I dont blame him for quitting on Bergavin after he big timed him like he did Lehkonen, Radulov, Markov, ext
Our GM basically went "take it or leave it , what are you gonna do " on a low ball offer cause KK wasnt Arbitration eligible
So KK signed an offer sheet and left , i woulda too
So Attitude shouldnt be an issue for CHI there .
ARZ i think they want more to make an impact statement straight out the gate and a package with Necas and Kuz i think does that.
Kuz attitude will be driving one of the most losing franchises in history to help them turn the page in their 3rd City now after WPG and ARZ failed causing relocations.
He'll have 1 year to prove he's this teams William Karlsson or Marchessault but worse case scenario he's a rather cheap rental given the package. So win win
Cap shouldnt be an issue i dont think
Before the sale of the Team and the interview with the Owners i wouldnt think Kuz to a team like ARZ or even Utah would make sense.
But if they're only half as aggressive as VGK was then this would be far from their last move
Honestly i kinda see them targeting Ullmark to make a splash

I'm not against to take Marner, but this is way too much to give up and in any case the Leafs would need to retain around 1/3 of the salary.
I like the idea with Tarasenko + the Panthers also will have to figure out how to extend some key players, therefore maybe he's going to be available, because he's not one of the key re-signing for FLA.
I don't like the third line very much and a 20 man roster is unreasonable

Yeah, sure, Columbus trades their only RD prospect of value who is a vital part of the future core for a winger that does not produce in the playoffs and is over-paid. Sounds great for Columbus.

Honestly, I don't think you re-sign Pavelski. Love what he's done for the Stars, but the last 6 weeks have me real concerned that Father Time is catching up with him. I'm not against re-signing him, but I'd rather see that $3M go towards re-signing Duchene or adding a player to fill his role on the roster.
Also not sure I see Harley getting a 7 year deal. He's been solid, but if history shows us anything it's that Nill doesn't typically hand out long term deals immediately after an ELC (unless you're Miro Heiskanen). Robertson, Hintz, and Oettinger all produced at a high level for longer than Harley has this season & they all received bridge deals. For Harley, you're looking at a 3-4 year deal & if I had to guess, it's probably going to come in somewhere around what Oettinger got on his contract.

No you're probably correct, I've been having a difficult time finding anyone with a viable 1C option available where it can make sense for both teams. Top C prospects who still need development are the closest I've come, maybe VGK if they need to move salary for next year?
Our best bet may be to find another solid 2C. I'd feel much more comfortable in our center core with a complementary center to ROR in the top 6 and Novak @ 3C, Sissons @ 4C.
The wingers we have in house should be able to make a step next year with opportunities, and there's always UFA options to sign to "beef up" the middle.

Fair return for Markstrom imo
We believe Fitzy put Holtz on the table…and Conroy agreed to one-for-one with about $2m retained. He took it to Markstrom, who waived his NTC for NJ. (Via reports from Pagnotta, Friedman, others)
So if there is any future to this deal, without retention, it’s likely to be less than original deal that was agreed to by both sides.
(My take is that Fitzy was only putting Holtz there if we got his offer (which we don’t know) for Hanifin accepted too. My wanted package deal…but again, just my speculation)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfan98</b></div><div>At this point, we all have a pretty good idea who's going to be in the conversation for the Hart and it's that time of year again... So here's my hart list (top 10) if I could vote (Feel free to quote this post and make your own!)
1. Auston Matthews
2. Nathan Mackinnon
3. Nikita Kucherov
4. Cale Makar
5. Quinn Hughes
6. Connor McDavid
7. David Pastrnak
8. Sam Reinhart
9. Thacher Demko
10. Artemi Panarin</div></div>
The league has famously kind of used other rewards to justify where the Hart goes. If Kucherov gets the Art Ross and Matthews the Rocket, then MacKinnon is likely getting the Hart. If Mackinnon wins the scoring race then it'll be Kucherov that gets league MVP. The Selke nominations kind of follow this pattern too (early congrats to Barkov now that Bergeron is no more)
If McDavid (and I think he could legitimately cruise at 2.00ppg for the rest of the season) wins the scoring title then I think Matthews gets the MVP apropos of Colorado was making the playoffs anyways and Kucherov didn't buy himself any voter favour with his half-assed All-Star appearance.

What is Zegras worth
I think you have some pretty skewed perceptions of values of players. Value is somewhat tied to personal preference so I could understand some variation, but this feels like it's really quite far off base, in my opinion. For example:
What makes Pickering worth as much as Mirosnichenko & a 1st?
What makes Harris worth more than Mirosnichenko & a 2nd?
You don't think Zegras is worth more than Yager?
If I were to guess, ANA fans will think these are all well short.
