Draft 2024 picks 1st round. Comments?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Villainitus</b></div><div>the universe that says draft the players you need because if you got the 5th pick in the draft this year, most likely its because your defense sucked. and sure enough, after looking at the habs roster, their defense sucked.</div></div>
Montreals best prospects are all defencemen: Reinbacher, Hutson and Mailloux are the top 3. Montreal has 1, maybe 2 forwards that even crack the top 10 of the whole prospect pool. So unless you think Caufield, Suzuki, Slaf and Dach is enough talent upfront (which I think no one does) you need a high end forward to make the top 6 more effective.

Villainitus
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Villainitus</b></div><div>I think MTL drafts a defensemen either way. Also to be honest, the last maybe 10 picks i was lazy on researching the players. But after looking up Sennecke, you're right, he will most likely be drafted by the Golden Knights at 19 or The Islanders at 20. I'm pretty sure he doesn't go any earlier than that. but i have seen some interesting moves in thh first round, so ya never know</div></div>
Kent hughes has alrdy gone on record saying habs are picking a forward, unless the BPA is a RHD then that's the way they're going... LHD is not happening whatsoever

Draft 2024 picks 1st round. Comments?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Villainitus</b></div><div>there is an excess of everything on the team but the habs dont have a bad first few lines on their roster and do have a horrible defense as of right now. How do you know for sure the depth for their defense is actually going to be any good at the nhl level? With the 5th pic overall in this draft their are plenty of Defensemen that are going to be nhl ready and most likely good players immediately vs waiting years before hoping your current depth of defensemen are ready to play. Go Defense now while you still got the pick and you will be good to go for in the NEAR future. Its either that your you guys can throw another season in hopes of landing another top pick, just like chicago did to get bedard</div></div>
Their lack of scoring is a more pressing need. They need a bigger centre to take the heat off Suzuki so that Dach or Newhook are better suited as wingers.
At LHD, Habs currently have Matheson 11g, 51a last year, Team Canada world championship Defenseman Kaiden Guhle, Up and coming two time Hobey Baker NCAA finalist nominee Lane Hutson (speed, small offensive), Arber Xhekaj for toughness - 3rd pairing, Jayden Struble who surprised with promotion to the team last year and blew away his draft combine in physical fitness tests, Adam Engstrom - an up an comer out of sweden, and Jack of all trades Jordan Harris - 7 - count them and 6 other than Matheson all under the age of 24! I would not call that LHD side horrible in terms of development ceiling.
If anything on D the habs should pick a RHD like Parekh or Yakemchuk but they are not best player available at #5. Sam Dickinson is overrated like Jack Quinn was in his draft year as he plays on an incredibly stacked London Knights team - Does Dickinson lead that team? No Cowan, Bonk, Haltunen etc. are the leaders and make Dickinson look good.
You're about the ONLY one that says Habs pick a LHD-man. EVERY other mock draft specialist says pick a forward or RHD at #5.

Marner
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Villainitus</b></div><div>I'm confused. so if i'm reading this correctly (just joined today btw) then new jersey is getting nothing in this deal. They are trading their top pick (number 10 pick btw) and they get a late 1st round pick and have to pay 50 percent of marners salary? and thats it? why do you think that new jersey would do this? I think you tried to add a 3rd team to this trade to try and make it work, but it leaves one team at least with nothing good in return. new jersey has to receive more for their part of the trade. Assuming the salary cap numbers are good as well, considering the note to this trade.</div></div>
No Marner is ending up in Jersey for the price of Jersey's 1st rounder

Although i respect the time and effort put into this, my lord is it ever inaccurate. For starters, MTL's not drafting a LHD top-5, and Sennecke is not dropping into the late 20's...
