A lot of people like yourself really underestimate how valueable a 100 point player is. Not to mention how good defensively Marner is and he’s still young

First off, that’s not way too much. When’s the last time a 100 point player was traded? If I remember correctly it was a swap Tkachuk for huberdeau, weager and a pick. That’s how much a 100 point player can get you. 2 firsts a second and a third plus a guy who plays bottom 6 on CHICAGO is just about right for Marner. Marner touches every facet of the game and he’s only 27. He’s in his prime. As far as a “rental” goes, there were reports that said that he’d waive his NMC to go to Chicago. Not likely he’d leave his hometown team and go to another team and then hit free agency the next year, wouldn’t make any sense. He’s re sign and Chicago could afford him. The best young goal scorer with a top 3 player maker in the league sounds great to me. Look what Mitch did with Matthews in Toronto with setting him up.

A player who is very versatile, it’s very good defensively and plays PK for 2.1M will always be useful on any team. If the blues didn’t accept they’d be crazy

We simply don't want Kampf or his contract.</div></div>
Kampf is a player that brings decent value to a team. 2.4M per year will be about average for 3rd line centres with the salary cap going up. I’d most definitely argue it does bring someone’s value up performing well at the worlds. Why do you think Tavares and Dubois went to play? They wanted to showcase that they’re still good hockey players.

You need every cent your team can get your hands on too. On top of all of that you just got hanafin, need to re sign Theodore end of next season. Why wouldn’t Vegas do that trade? They’d be insane

The Vegas Idea
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>A player's draft position seven years ago has absolutely no relevance to his value today, especially when that's the <strong>only</strong> positive thing that you can say about him. By your logic, Lias Andersson, who was drafted seventh overall and was thereafter traded for a second-round draft pick, should be worth more than a fourth -- but he's not. Two different teams have given up on Timmins. Just look at a few of the defensemen taken behind Timmins in the same draft: Dylan Samberg was selected at #43, and has played 156 NHL games and is expected to be a full-time roster player next season. Gus Lindstrom, taken 38th, has played 174 NHL games and will play more games next season than Timmins. Nicolas Hague, chosen 34th, has played 296 NHL games and is obviously a top-4 defender on most teams. Timmins has played all of 91 games and if you use the injury excuse to explain why he's been held back, then that's exactly why Timmins isn't worth a fourth.</div></div>
That’s exactly why he’s getting held back, injures. It’s not an excuse it’s facts. A fourth or sixth round draft pick will never play in the nhl chances are. If they do they won’t be impact players. Timmins is a full time player on about 1/3 of the NHL teams. 3rd pairing for sure but he’s a full time player. Where he got drafted ABSOLUTELY matters! It means that he showed the potential to be a solid defencemen in the NHL. Only reason he hasn’t been able to show that is his injuries. Stop yapping about a draft pick that will never turn into an nhl player. You’re losing Roy and doughty doesn’t have much left in the tank at all. You need to younger d men that can play.

Robertson was a former 60 goal scorer in jr and every time he comes into the leafs lineup he scores. Canes need more offence, especially because you’re going to be losing Necas and Gentzel. Plus he’s a lot cheaper than them and will put up at least half of the point they did. He can definitely get a second rounder.
Kampf fits perfectly into how rod wants his team to play. You’re also going to probably loose martinok and Kampf is a good replacement. Staal is also gettijg older.
Fact of the matter is that but teams need a re vamp. Especially the canes because they have everything but can’t get over the hump.

Everyone thinks all those players are no good because the stars overshadow them in Toronto. The players like Robertson, liljegren, jarnkrok if given a bigger role would be really solid players on any team they go to. Liljegren was a former 1st round draft pick who’s only 25. Robertson is only 22 and eveeytije he stepped into the leafs lineup he produced. His shot is insane. Jarnkrok is a very versatile player who is a defence first minded guy. Going to a younger team like Detroit would help the team. That’s why they brought in guys like Kane and person who they’re going to lose in free agency this year.

Marner is worth a lot more than what people think. If he waives his NMC, majority of the teams in the league will be contracting the leafs about him. Vegas makes total sense. Shed Theodore who’s also a UFA and due for a raise at the end of next season, get rid of a guy like barbashev and who is definitely replaceable and you get a winger who’s top 3 in the league playmaker, 100 point player if he’s healthy, phenomenal on the PP and plays solid PK minutes. There’s VERY few players in the league that do all of that as good as Marner and the ones that do aren’t up for trade. It was reported last week I think by elliot friendman that a trade could potentially be Theodore and Thompson plus a pick for Marner. The other guys like liljegren and Robertson won’t fit with your cap issues but Marner for Theodore and barbashev would. I’m not sure where your sources are from

Leafs aren’t trading Marner for a defenceman who’s on an expiring contract as well, a 3rd liner and a 3rd round pick. Swap Roy with barbashev or William karlson and they do it.

That’s not nearly enough for Marner, liljegren and Robertson. Marner alone could nearly get all that from Vegas. You know that Theodore only has 1 year left on his contract too right? Kason is a great piece as well but Marner is a 100 point player. That’s almost the point totals of karlson and Theodore combined from last year. I’d definitely want at least another 2nd rounder from Vegas. Bare minimum. No domi?

That’s really a matter of opinion. He was healthy all last season. He put up better numbers than Bert. Don’t get me wrong if much rather re sign Bert but he’s gonna want too much money. Monahan is a really good second choice and I even like drouin

Bert will want 6M per year. It’ll be the difference between getting potentially two more solid d men or only 1 more. Its a big deal monahan we could pay less
