Surpirsed at how many people are suggesting the Leafs give significant money to Monahan. Why? He is a career .5 PPG and -7 career in the playoffs. He is not a good player.
I dont understand giving that money to him instead of Bertuzzi. Who is significantly better.

Bert will want 6M per year. It’ll be the difference between getting potentially two more solid d men or only 1 more. Its a big deal monahan we could pay less

I’m high on Marner too, trust me! But Theodore is one of the top two way d men in the league, whitecloud is an underrated 3rd pairing guy that shoots right and the SJS is basically going to be a second round pick. It’ll be like pick 66 or something

Sure. But he isnt any good. So how does that make you better? He is a liability. You could fill your entire team with cheap players and save loads of cap space. But if all the players suck, what difference would the extra cap space make?

That’s really a matter of opinion. He was healthy all last season. He put up better numbers than Bert. Don’t get me wrong if much rather re sign Bert but he’s gonna want too much money. Monahan is a really good second choice and I even like drouin
