Want a d man apparently

He probably wants more than that though</div></div>
I think he'll make about 6AAV on the open market, and honestly he'd probably be worth it so long as the term isn't atrocious

lottery
Write ups all make sense, I do think CBJ goes Silayev though with it having a ripple effect on a couple of other picks. I just think they have a stronger future down the middle and on the wing that they often get credit for, and while I like Werenski/Mateychuk/Svozil on the left side they definitely like a big guy who can defend well like Silayev

Agreed, there might be the template of something that could work here, but the value is too lopsided here

Interesting contract
I don't think I envision a spot for Nelson in the future of this lineup, I wouldn't expect Wright or Rehkopf for TK, but I'd hope they could at least find someone who legitimately could make sense as a future piece.
Also, I hate that Fedotov contract man. At what point as a GM do you just say "nah, you haven't even earned 1/3 of this money, have fun in Russia or Free Agency"

Sillinger Offersheet
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>squashmaple</b></div><div>Oh, it was absolutely rushed. No "a bit" about it. He benefited his rookie year from being Voracek's personal center. Then the next year Jake suffered his final concussion in Finland and LTIRed (and just officially retired this week), and Sillinger proceeded to have a dreadful sophomore slump. This year, he rebounded and was arguably the team's best center by the end of the season, usable in all situations. He's probably still a 3C on a good team with an optimistic Cirelli comp, but defensively reliable centers who can play up or down the lineup as needed are definitely worth 5.5 mill. Columbus also is historically starved of centers, so I think while 5.5 for his first RFA deal feels high, the org would be pretty motivated to keep him.
Also I do not think the Flyers should be risking that first.</div></div>
Interesting, appreciate the insight. I definitely agree the Flyers shouldn't risk the 2025 1st in any way shape or form, the East was crazy volatile this year and the chance for regression to a lottery team is fairly significant next year.
Fantilli-Sillinger-Voronkov has the potential to be a really great Center group IMO

Do Columbus fans still think Sillinger has high upside? I really liked him back at the 2021 draft a ton and would kill to give him a chance in Philly, but it sounded like his development may have been a bit rushed

I would do this if I were the Flyers, but unfortunately I think this would be viewed as a lateral movement of one of their Captains so I don't see Briere doing this

Nah, I definitely do this if I'm Philly. I'd rather have the guy who is 6'2, has experience playing Center, has a 70 point season under his belt and is 2 years younger

Ottawa adds enough to the point where Norris wouldn't be the main piece by the time the trade would be balanced and done. Norris is not a positive asset with how bad his injury history has been the last couple of years

If you take out the 1st this isn't even close to fair. Farabee just turned 24, was a top-15 pick himself and is honestly outperforming the majority of players who end up selected in the 10-15 range of most drafts. He is worth significantly more than a guy who may have a chance at being a 3C and a 3rd rounder

I semi-considered Wahlberg a project piece who wouldn't carry a ton of value, the deal could be reworked either without him or with Philly maybe adding on their end. I don't see Philly moving Farabee for futures unless a piece like 11th overall is involved

Making tough choices for the future
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Hmmm. See, I was thinking that Zemula still has untapped potential. What do the Flyers seem to think of Zemula? Could they really move him out?</div></div>
It's a weird situation with him. I think had we not acquired Drysdale that they'd give him a true chance to develop in that 2LHD role long term, and I think he really can do it. He's a pretty good skater who can shoot the puck well and has size, he's not the best at 1-on-1 physical play and some of his decision making leaves a bit to be desired, but I think that can improve. But now you're in a position where you cannot afford to stick a player who might have growing pains themselves next to Drysdale in a long term role, his ceiling is too high to justify doing anything other than maximizing his ability to develop to the highest degree.
So long answer short: they won't give him away, but if a deal makes sense I don't think they hesitate to trade him

Making tough choices for the future
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>I'd say TK is too old to be the main part of the trade, if we're sending out Zegras, we'd be looking for a piece that'll be around as long as he can. Frost not only doesn't close that gap for us, I don't think he has a home on our roster.
You've got an overabundance of RW, it makes sense to exchange that for a center, but from anaheims POV, it's got to be Foerster or Tippett, and you guys just got Tippett signed to a sweetheart deal.</div></div>
What's infuriating from a Flyers fan perspective is that in hindsight (and honestly I said this well before he was extended) Tippett by leaps, bounds, valleys and miles would've made the most sense to trade in a package for a player like Zegras. Like you said, TK has some questions regarding his age and long term fit, and at this point Foerster is simply too good to justify moving (I'm not sure the general public has fully caught on to how good this kid is, I think he's a special player). The long term fit was never there with Tippett, and now we're stuck with more than we know what to do with...

And funny how you don't see Frost as a good fit playing for Torts, but that Zegras would be.</div></div>
Jesus, you guys are brutal about the Reichel thing. I took the damn trade idea from a Hawks fan lmao
As for the Frost/Zegras thing, I've realized people grossly misunderstand Tortorella the last couple of years. He's been more than fine with players who don't defend particularly well and play with skill so long as they work hard (which Zegras does, I don't think he gets enough credit for that). Everyone thought he'd hate TK and Tippett, when in reality he absolutely loves both of them. With Frost in particular, he just has a weird bone to pick that I don't think anyone truly understands

He's... fine. I actually like him as a long term bottom pairing guy, but the problem is we already extended Seeler for that role and I don't think he's good enough to justify being a strong developmental partner for Drysdale. There's also an angle to this where I still think there's fairly untapped potential in Valimaki's game, so I don't consider this giving him away by any stretch

His contract page says he's expected to lose eligibility this upcoming season. Kind of changes the entire dynamic of the trade, if he is waiver eligible he's not even worth a 2nd at this point IMO, if he isn't then yeah I'd be looking for a Holtz swap or something like that
