As long as you can bury the contract fully, I guess it's okay.

Was this guy still on TOR's reserve list? Either way, this is the embodiment of "better late than never".

(PIT/CAR) - Guentzel, Smith for Bunting, Koivunen, Ponomarev, Lucius, 2024 2nd (PHI), 2024 5th (CAR)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CantStopWontStop</b></div><div>Just wanted to stop by and note that Bunting has more 5v5 goals, points, takeaways, hits than Guentzel, and the penguins have their best win% of the season since the trade.
It’s almost as if Jake Guentzel is not a 21 min a game winger and is instead a fairly mid 17 minute a game winger when considering the contract you’ll have to give him.</div></div>
It's almost as if the first two aren't even true, and that Guentzel has played fewer games than Bunting since the trade. It's also almost as if you don't know why a small sample size is not representative of the whole.

I still can't believe this guy went undrafted. Time will tell how he does though!

So far so good. The final years of the deal still have a good chance to end up being awful, but as of right now, it's a bargain.

Ah yes, a good Rhode Island boy. Time will tell if he pans out better than his brother did.

Looks good old friend! I'd put Buium a little higher, but beyond that, it seems reasonable.
But then again, I know nothing about scouting (as you know), so don't take my word for it.

Vancouver Canucks signed Christian Felton (1 Year / $950,000 AAV)
NCAA guys are always fun to gamble on, but Fenton doesn't look like he'll be anything great. Still, he is young; there are worse ways to use your 50 contract spots.

Ah yes, a Big Dood (TM). He looks like he's been passable, so he's definitely worth a shot at an ELC. Hopefully Ollas pans out better than Olof Lindblom did.

Chytil's career might be over, and Kakko is just a throw-in. Lindgren + two 1sts does not get you Thompson. Maybe it does if he has another down year, but not now.

Super hard pass. There's no need for a goalie for MIN, and even if there was, that's far too much for Markstrom.

I understand that the deal makes some sense on paper, but if BOS actually did this, I might have to switch my favorite team to MIN for the next seven years.

Calgary Flames signed Kevin Rooney (1 Year / $1,300,000 AAV)
There's absolutely no reason why a guy like Rooney should get more than league minimum. Perhaps they don't want him plucked off waivers, but the better option to prevent that would be a two-year deal with a much lower cap hit.

Philadelphia Flyers signed Nick Seeler (4 Years / $2,700,000 AAV)
That term is risky, especially given his age, but the cap is fine for a 3LD.
I remember watching Seeler with MIN, and I was never a fan, even though I wanted him to succeed. I am thoroughly impressed by what he's done despite basically not playing at all for two straight seasons. He was the ultimate Cinderella story before Cody Hodgson this year.

Seattle Kraken signed Jordan Eberle (2 Years / $4,750,000 AAV)
This contract is perfect for a guy like Eberle. He still has some left in the tank, and the fact that it's only two years means there is a lot less risk.
