I'm high on him. I've seen him dominate play in Liiga, so versus adults instead of his peers. Helenius is almost NHL-ready and will be a steal. Not many kids score 36 points in 51 games in Liiga (also PPG in playoffs) and make the Finnish World Championship team, especially while playing center. He will be gone by the #13 pick.

Rossi Traded
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MNCountryClub</b></div><div>Gauthier is not a good parallel at all. He was not under contract with PHI and outright said he would not sign. Rossi, however, has a contractual obligation with the Minnesota Wild and does not have an ounce of say in the matter. There is an iron clad legal difference between the two situations. That has exponentially more to do with trade price than whether or not a GM "made the player available."
We're just gonna have to agree to disagree here, and we can revisit the value if he does get dealt this summer.</div></div>
The point would be that both GM's were selling from a point of weakness. Gauthier because he was not going to sign with Philly and Rossi with the fact that it seems he's not a Guerin guy and he keep him despite him playing well. The actual exact details are not the same as i said, obviously. Similar only that one sense.
For sure we'll find out if he's gung ho on moving him. Hope he moves past the size thing and keeps him. He's finally turning into the player he was drafted to be.

Exactly . And it’s a joke trying to trade fair offer for Brady when he’s 24 , has term , has no injury concerns , is a captain, brings way more than just production to the table and can’t pick which team he gets traded to.

Losing the dead weight
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MNCountryClub</b></div><div>Yeah the issue with Mojo is that they won't actually waive him. I think if he was given the ultimatum of "AHL or trade", he would waive the NTC, but Guerin isn't gonna do that. Even if it works on paper and in theory.
Heidt probably won't be ready IMHO, but it will be fun to see if he can get his 9 games and what he does with them.
Tbh, one thought I had with Heidt (if he does impress but maybe not quite full-time) is if they'd ever consider something like what Anaheim is doing with Carlsson - a deliberately reduced schedule. You obviously want him playing, but I do wonder if 40-45 NHL games is better than 68 WHL games for a guy like him.</div></div>
Good thought. I suppose it depends on whether he looks like he belongs in those first 9 before the ELC starts ticking. We all know how that usually goes, but the fact that they signed him after only one year of junior after getting drafted tells me they might have that type of plan. And everyone would rather see him and/or the other kids than a re-tread like Mojo on the second line. I'm not too worried either way, next year is another year of waiting time before the cap room finally comes back.

Was literally typing that Minny would rather work out something for Rossi than Boldy, especially if taking Dvorak is part of the package.

I saw and liked the Hartman and Foligno extensions but it would have been nice for the Wild to have this as the last year of Zucc's contract, they could have gotten a haul for him at the deadline.

Sounded like Maroon was supposed to be out just past the TDL, if I'm not mistaken. He should be back for the home stretch and any potential playoff games.

Even if he somehow was able to convince the coaches that he is healthy enough to be on the ice, he shouldn't be allowed anywhere near game action until next season. He's 34 coming off back and hip surgeries. If there is any hope of getting some sort of value out of the last 3 years of his contract (or potentially trade him to get out of the cap hit), we need to think for the future instead of possible short term gain. Wait until he is clearly 100% instead of risking him getting reinjured and suffering permanent damage in a year we realistically have next to zero chance at the cup.

Probably better for Montreal, I just don't know what the point of this trade is for them. They already have 12 picks in 2024 draft and 11 in the 2025 draft, and a number of decent young D that need playing time. Unless they really like Spacek (which is possible), they'd probably prefer to just keep Kovacevic.

I agree…his inclusion here is more about saying he would be good addition to our locker room…and to show our young goalies (Daws and Schmid) how it’s done. And he is the type that teammates with play with confidence in front of.

No thanks on Boeser, I think it would be too dangerous of a trade for the Wild.
I think he is a prime fall-back-down-to-earth candidate whether this season or next, especially if he switches teams off of the high-flying Canucks. I'd rather the Wild see what they have with Khusnutdinov (sounds like perhaps later this season). Plus they would have to pay Boeser in a couple years when they already have to pay Faber, Rossi, and Wallstedt that same summer, and then Kaprizov again the year after.

I know hes not available but I want him
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>That’s more than Jack Eichel got</div></div>
Can’t make that comparison really. There were different circumstances involving Eichel that affected his value. He had injury concerns and needed surgery before he was even gonna play - & it was a surgery that not many teams wanted to let him have because it had never been done before. It came down to 2 teams for Eichel which lowers his value. Eriksson Ek would probably have 20-23 teams in the league trying to get him which would increase his value.
Trade value isn’t just determined by a players ability, “supply and demand” are huge factors.

Outproducing? By 1 point? That's not outproducing, that's potentially one game from Ek being ahead by 1 point. And Ek has 8 more goals. Ek is also miles better defensively, not to mention the grit and physical play he brings. Ek is also signed for 5 more years at a very good contract, where Mittelstadt't $ value is unknown, and will probably be higher than Ek's. Ek being two years older and including a 2nd round pick two drafts from now doesn't come close to offsetting the value.

He’s considered in the top 10. Leafs like his size and skill which is something they need so pretty doubtful they’d want to move him unless it was for a big deal.
