Dallas won the series in games 3&4 with their dominant performances. There was no effective in game adjustment. Games 5&6 felt much more even playoff hockey where one mistake could win or lose the game.

It’s not really. When they play their best hockey they play a very aggressive high pressure defensive game with their speed that forces quick turnovers and even quicker transition to offense. However it’s a high risk scheme and like any scheme is not full proof. The match up against Dallas was not good given their ability to play a heavy game behind our net. Putting heavier pressure on our more mobile defenders. It was a great game plan by Dallas and Bednar’s biggest weakness is his inability to adjust when his plan falls that and over playing is top lines.

Also Val won’t be hidden in the ahl if he can play he will. He needs time to get his sh*t together and accept he has a problem… which he doesn’t appear to be doing but I know nothing about his personal life. I hope he takes enough time to recover… see you in the playoffs Val. 6months is just the minimum.

Oh no the sky is falling, everyone hide in your bunker with your MREs.
We will be a good team again next year. Sammy G isn’t the problem he is just a convenient target for the size queens. Although Dallas was able to go to work behind the net it was against all our defensive pairs and more noticeably our top pair. We aren’t changing either of them so we just need to scheme for it.
I’d trade Colton first as he was not able to center a true shutdown line and doesn’t bring enough offense to play on the second line. He could be a luxury we just can’t afford.

Point a game players aren’t cheap but availability is the most important ability. He needs to get his head straight. Perhaps a year in the khl and a return for the playoffs would help him reset.

Troll posts can be fun. That Avs trade is really bad but my personal favorite is the Bo byram trade.

But let’s play, McDavid for Rantanen, Mittlestadt and hell 2 1st and Ritchie is a massive haul but probably in the right ball park. That leaves Toews and Nurse and Nurse sucks. But MacKinnon and McDavid as your top 2 centers would be crazy.</div></div>
McDavid would make an awesome 2c 😀 and he wouldn’t have to go up against McKinnon and Makar who can shut him down.
Rantanen mittlestadt a 1st should be more than enough. We don’t want nurse he would be a negative in the trade.

No from the Avs. I like MANGIAPANE and Sharangovich a lot but not going to give up Richie for either or both. Also we don’t have the cap space.
You should trade mangiapane out east so he can play against panarin. Bread vs bread eater would be quite the battle.

That Loc trade is quite off in value as well. Loc does so much for the Avs, is on a cheaper contract and has essentially the same number of points and yet the Avs need to pay a 4th. Nope. Not even if the draft pict was going the other way.

I like the return for Colton and would make the trade. Perhaps the better 3rd or a prospect the management likes better. However the chuchu situation may mean we don’t need to trade anyone. Who knows at this point. It’s a minimum of 6 months perhaps he’s reinstated just in time for the playoffs to piss off all the cap circumvention people. :)

Ferraro andwalker
Interesting ideas. I would have to see more out of Walker before having him replace Sammy G. It was interesting seeing him W play on the 2nd pairing last night and Sammy on the 3rd. It didn’t go badly. I just need to see more. Also I think Walker will be a darling in FA and get over paid because so many teams are looking for what he brings. Ie he will get more than Sammy making this train of thought less appealing.
I don’t think LOC gets that type of return and if he doesn’t then I’d keep him. Personally I think the 3rd pair will be cheap next year… at least until the deadline.

Good points. It consistent with good boy Sakic but it does leave less flexibility. Would really love to sign Drouin if he wanted another sweet heart deal.

I like the team. The third paring might be a problem. The trades are reasonable enough that both sides would question the value. Perhaps the target teams change based on need.
I don’t know anything about Poulin so can’t really comment on that one.

Wood is definitely a 3rd line player on a lot of teams. Relentless, fast and a good size for all those size queens out there. The only question is why did he get that length of a contract?

FYI Olausson has a great shot and good size but has had issues putting it all together. I wish we could see him for an extended run with the Avs. Our Ahl team isn’t the best and he’s a complementary player needing a good center to be effective.

Specifically with Mac it took him multiple years to find himself after the move to center. It might have been better to stay on the wing for another year and work on developing his nhl skills.
After mac was promoted to 2rw that line (Landy staz mac) was the best in hockey. However Macs shot was not what it is now and keeping the defensive pressure off his plate may have given him time to develop his offensive game. Then when he moved to center the development curve would have been less pronounced.
It worked out ok with a lower 2rd contract that became the best bargain in the nhl.
