If the Avs saw some untapped potential in Krebs to be able to grow into a 3C then sure, value wise this is fine.
Worth noting though, COL passed on Krebs in the 2019 draft and went with Newhook instead. Don’t know how much to read into that.

using cap space to fill the roster no elcs
Would LOVE Ullmark for next year and would absolutely pay a first for him. There is no cap room though and adding cap on the goalie spots is to say the least, difficult..

Trying to get creative
Are we still doing this ”Dowd for a first” thing? Yeah, yeah. Technically COL is trading down here. However, to the point here. I can’t see the Avs use their first this year to go and get a 33 year old 4C (is he even a fit with Avs pace, there is big question mark there) in the off-season. The Avalanche declines and asks for Lappiere. Just kidding.

Girard is the Avs number 3#. I’ve a very hard time seeing him as a trade option this off-season. Sure, weirder things have happened but it seems very unlikely atm. This offer is an easy decline.

I could absolutely see Colton being the Avs cap casualty this off-season. I don’t love this return though, not saying that your offer here is bad from a value stand point (even though i think it’s a bit light). Just that i would like something a little bit different. Closer to the value of a late first round pick. Could be 2nd’s for example.

Colorado, being a cap-strapped contender and all is not really in the market of taking on cap dumps for mid round picks. No fit to be had here.

Did you mean to add Crosby instead of Guentzel? Just kidding, obviously. But no, Byram is not available for a rental winger. That you also add a first going the Pens way is ridiculous.

You can take out Sammy G, LoC, the two first and the second, COL still declines. Why you may ask? Because there is simply not any realistic way for the Avs to take on Nylanders 11.5M extension. You can have RyJo though (if you want him as 3C), you don’t even need to pay for him.

Toffoli is a really nice piece and i could see him returning more than this. However, Colorado won’t be the team trading the first+ (due to reasons that NMAvsFan states above) that probably will be the asking price.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>futurehofer</b></div><div>If I had to guess, with retention, Guerin would be looking for a 2nd. While Fleury's number's aren't amazing, his value will likely be inflated a bit by a seller's market. That's what we paid to get him and I'm guessing Guerin would push to get in return. Since you guys don't have a 2nd until 2026, maybe he'd take a 3rd and a later pick (5th?). Possibly a 3rd and a warm body backup goalie just so we aren't forced to call up Wallstedt this season.
I'm honestly not too knowledgeable about your prospects to know if there's anyone in there that they'd target.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>futurehofer</b></div><div>That's understandable. Like I said, I think that will be Guerin's ask if we're retaining 50% and the market may make that a reality. Personally, I wouldn't want to pay that if I was another team and I wouldn't have been happy with us paying that in 2022 if we didn't have 3 picks in the 2nd round that year. I've always been of the belief that Fleury playoff performances have been overhyped (of his 3 cups, he lost the starting job for 2 of the runs).</div></div>
Thanks for your reply! The Avs don’t really need a starter so the situation and his role would be a lot different. He would more so be asked to fill the role of a veteran presence and someone to help support on and of the ice. I think it’s fair with a 3rd a 5th and Prosvetov (no value).

The more i think about it, the more i like the taught of two C’s. A borderline 2/3C with a low cap hit for 2 years and some untapped potential and a high end 4C with retention and able to play up the lineup if needed.
Haha! Yeah, you’re probably right about that. How about Granlund and Sturm for the 2024 first, RyJo and OO. A nice little overpay for two C’s in a hot market..

Sure, Byram hasn’t excatly looked great this year. But treating him like he doesn’t have significant value to the Avs management is wrong. Also, no retention on Nelson for next year will create some problems for you.

If my comment indicated that, im sorry. I was more thinking along the lines of:
To COL:
Morgan Frost
Scott Laughton (50%)
To Philly:
2024 1st round pick
Sean Behrens
Oskar Olausson
Ryan Johansson
Would be willing to included something more decent-ish. What do you say?

Or flyers Morgan frost and Ryan poeghling
Nashville Novak and trenin
Or sharks granlund and Sturm.
That will upgrade the depth down the middle over ryjo and olofsson</div></div>
I would not be inclined to move Byram for any of those packages (neither seems the Avs FO since the rumor is they declined a Byram for Gauthier swap and he holds more value than those packages).
Poehling just signed a new deal with Philly. But how about Frost and Laughton (50% retained)? Would be a hefty price to give up, but right here, right now, the frustration probably takes over and i would do it. Probably unlikely that Philly would like to retain on Laughton tho.
Swap Trenin and add Sissons at 50% retention and sure, go for it! Probably unlikely that Nashville would like to retain for so long.
The Sharks one is an absolute no for me.
