I think otherwise, you just keep your 1st and try to move Gus for at least a 2nd either to NJ or somewhere else.</div></div>
I'd be fine trading WPGs 2nd next year instead of moving back if that makes it easier.

How did Leafs fans in general become so out of touch? They're supposedly some of the best and most knowledgeable hockey fans in the world, and then they post ridiculous things like Marner for Faber, Rossi, 1st.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Spencer9321</b></div><div>Would you trade marner for boldy straight up? I don't see the wild's use for Gustavsonn, they signed fleury's extension and wallstead is ready to be in the nhl. So i'd say Gustavsonn and a second for liligjren and a third is pretty close in value. With more ice time and a different system lilijgren could be a potential breakout canidate to be a true top 4 dman.</div></div>
I wouldn't. Boldy is cheaper and already locked up long-term. He is younger and bigger than Marner. Both score about 30 goals a year, give or take a few. Boldy still has room to grow.
The 20 or so assists Marner produced more than Boldy really aren't worth giving all that up.
Also, just because the Wild wouldn't have a "need" for Gustavsson, doesn't mean that they would just give him to the first one asking. Gustavsson's value is around a mid 2nd round pick.

Michkov next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JayTea</b></div><div>Probably. Frost is a bigger than Rossi so he'd check that block that Guerin apparently is after but can he play top 6 center? I don't watch many Flyers games so no idea, but if his ceiling is a 3C than he's a bandaid for next season and the appeal would be the draft pick which Colorado's will likely be in the late 20s next year unless they get slammed with the injury bug. Neither seem like they'd help the team in the long run more than Rossi might be able to. Getting pick #12 in this draft could be a chance for the Wild to either add 2 more prospects to their pool or package them to try to move up.
Again, I'm not familiar with the Flyers. Is their prospect pool in a position where they could give up a 1st this draft to bring in a young center still on his ELC?</div></div>
Frost is definitely a 2C at that point maybe on a top top contender would be a 3C. Flyers need a 1C desperately so if they are trading for one then they wouldn’t need to worry about drafting one

Off season
Marchenko's a huge fan favorite already and that would be a hard sell to an already discontent Columbus fanbase, but the new GM might have to make hard decisions, and Rossi is a very good target for the Jackets. I would personally hate it, but it might be a good thing for the team. Some of the glut of wingers do have to go.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>That is absolutely a fair POV but any extension would be made after a trade anyways, when it is signed is less relevant. Gauging what he is looking for in his next deal could either lead to a reality check for Marner or narrow down trade options</div></div>
if im a GM of a contedning team and i acuire marner, and he isnt a 90 point two way winger for me, i would let him walk in FA. imo he is very worth the risk to pay big assets for as a rental but i wouldnt commit long term until i can see that he can have success in whatever system my team employs.
worst case scenerio is you overpay for a 2nd line winger for a year and then get $11 million in cap space in the 2025 off season

Sens Offseason
Minnesota has 12 forwards under contract for next season already plus RFA Mason Shaw and kids who might get promoted from Iowa, so Mark Kastelic isn't much more than a throwaway throw-in. The difference between one season of Jakob Chychrun and one season of Jake Middleton (whom Minnesota will be able to afford to re-sign much more easily than Chychrun) can't be all that much, especially given that even with the retention, Chychrun's contract is under water while Middleton's is economical. I doubt that the Wild would do this even if you took out the first.

Anderson and a dman to Minny blockbuster
You could add the Winnipeg 2024 first and downgrade the Minnesota pick to their 2024 second and this would still be a tough sell due to the Wild's cap situation.
Face it -- nobody's taking Anderson's boat-anchor contract off your hands, especially a team up against the cap ceiling like Florida, Los Angeles, Minnesota or Tampa.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Danny_MrGM_Briere</b></div><div>I get that but they do get Frost back. Maybe switch in another young guy instead of Marat but I wanted him because he and Michkov both played on Sochi in this KHL season</div></div>
You're just not getting Marco Rossi out of the Wild. He's projected to be their #2C of the future and he hasn't disappointed them yet.
You have to admit that so far, Frost doesn't look like more than a bottom-6 center and he turns 25 next month, which means that whatever team holds his rights next summer is going to have to decide after only one season the length and size of his long-term contract or else trade him. With that reality in mind, I can see the possibility of Minnesota exchanging the three-years-younger Kiss-My-Thing-Off for Frost, but if either of the two has a future as a top-6 center, it's the Russian, not Frost.

New Look Caps
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mikesmo16</b></div><div>A prospect that could very well be the next Faber, a veteran defensemen, and a second rounder. Not JUST Chesley.
Caps need to win now, not so much for the Wild. We can't wait for D men to get to the NHL. Ovi only has 2 more years left on his deal. Maybe 1 more (I think he signs a 1 year deal) after that. Faber would fit the need for a young defensemen who can help win now, but also grow into the future.</div></div>
Are you daft?
Minnesota DOES NOT CARE if Ovi plays one more year, or two, or four, or if he's the next Jagr.
Minnesota is NOT trading a 21 year old #1D. A kid that has turned the Calder race from a forgone conclusion to a legitimate debate. Against Bedard of all f'ing people, and who would be the clear-cut winner if Bedard wasn't in it as well.
They're not moving a Legitimate 1D at age 21 for a <em>maybe</em>. Faber will only be TWENTY-THREE by the time Minnesota's buyouts end and the team will be ready for true contention for the cup in 25-26.
You want a young stud 1D? Well too bad. He's not available. In fact. He's untouchable.
Well, not unless we're getting McDavid back anyway.
Guerin, DOES NOT CONSIDER THIS.
Furthermore, you're also completely missing the point of what Motzko was saying. His ONLY point was that Chesley plays a similar style of defensive game as Faber. HE WAS NOT IMPLYING THAT CHESLEY HAD THE SAME UPSIDE.
There is a MASSIVE difference between playing hockey in a similar manner, how they play/think the game, and having the same level of potential. Don't confuse his words for something he wasn't saying.
