Petry deal is pretty useless if you ask me. No point in trading a #3 D to move up ~10 spots and not to mention they are even taking back salary to eat on Khudobins deal.
I could see the VGK trade being executed. Makes sense again for both teams as they will need to pay Roy around 3-4mil per since Smith just signed for ~5mil and Poehling is under contract for atleast the next season at a very intriguing cap + RFA QO.
The Drouin trade makes absolutely no sense. If you are retaining half his salary and that's the best you can get, they'd be much better served to let things play out and trade him for maximal value at the TDL.

A lots of team are calling on Anderson but MTL don’t want to trade him. They declined serious offers before the TDL. Per Pierre LeBrun
So he is worth quite a bit, like it or not

Habs aren’t giving up a top 10 pick in the most loaded class since 2015 to be petty. The only petty one here is the canes owner. Enjoy 8 more years of your fourth line center KK

Regarding Weber:
Most people assume it’ll be a negligible return, or that it’ll actually cost the Canadiens something to get Weber off their books, but it’s really the opposite. Any team trading for his contract is doing so to reach the salary-cap floor, and any team trading to reach the floor is a budget team.
I’ve heard and seen people say, “There’s only a total $6 million left in actual dollars to pay Weber over his remaining four years under contract, so a budget team can live with that,” but that’s actually wrong. No team acquiring Weber will be paying that $6 million, because his contract is insured.
Budget teams prefer paying zero. This is free cap space for any team that needs it, and the Canadiens might actually get a reasonable asset for it.

If Letang doesnt sign with Pittsburgh, you have a 3 year window after signing Rust with a need at RHD. The next one available is Justin Schultz in free agency or you go the trade route which leaves Dumba, Petry, nada
Petry value will be at least a 1st rounder in that hypothetical that looks quite likely

Agreed also Ovi may not be putting up season GOAT numbers now but he has had a GOAT career

Interesting Idea
@Habs_fan31 don't be discouraged by the outrageous takes on this site. I agree with you, if Hughes doesn't get at least a 1st round pick for Petry I would hope he doesn't move him at all.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/awinninghabit.com/2022/04/26/montreal-canadiens-jeff-petry-heating-just-time-raise-trade-value/amp/
"he has continued to play well throughout the second half of the season. He added two assists in the Habs most recent game, giving him eight points in his last nine games played. Dating back to a couple days after St. Louis took over, Petry has scored 18 points in his last 26 games."
Petry then went on to add 2 G + 1 A over the last 2 games of the season. For 21 pts in his last 28 games, a pace of 60+ pts over 82 games. Recall before Ducharme took over last year that Petry was an early favorite for the Norris (and he still finished 13th in Norris voting), everyone was calling the extension a steal compared to what he would have got free agency. He sucked the entire time under Ducharme basically... and so did every single player on the Habs roster. People are wrongly attributing this poor performance to an age curve with Petry instead of looking at the common theme amongst every hab player that struggled, Dominic Ducharme. Would these same people saying Petry has no value argue Caufield is a bust?
Petry is arguably the most interesting RD this offseason behind Letang and Klingberg (we will see what happens with them). Even if there is no market, Petry has considerably more value to MTL than a return < a 1st round pick.

What are you smoking? Why not just retain $500000 on Doan, instead of both teams retaining? LOL, not that Desharnais and a 5th is even close to fair anyways. Also, if Sakic was dumb enough to accept Emelin, Juulsen and picks, Duchene would already be wearing a Habs uni. This is absurd man. And basically Plekanec for Yakupov and Del Zotto? Think Edmonton is interested in Shaw for McDavid?

hmmm, maybe because he wont be bought out

I've been on the "Fleury can be traded" side for a while, but its looking more and more like he will be bought out. Yzerman has said that the Kings were the only team to submit an offer for Bishop. If Calgary/Dallas didn't target Bishop, they aren't gonna target Fleury, at least at the deadline.
Not looking good for Flower's trade market.
