Bergys Back

Created by: KrugLife
Team: 2022-23 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: May 20, 2022
Published: May 20, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Bergy can sign a 35+ contract with 2 mil or so as a bonus that can be carried over for the next season like Iginla and Chara contracts. Buyout Foligno, Bury Wagner, trade Debrusk and Reilly and even Studnicka for picks or prospects on 2 way contracts, these teams are just examples it doesn't really matter to me. Strome can play RW until Bergy retires and then you have C that can play top 6. Paul adds toughness & size to 3rd Line and also can play C in the future as a middle 6. Gryz on LTIR means just some cap gymnastics throughout the year when he comes back but someone is always dinged up to bank the 2 mil in cap space they'd need on a daily cap.

Montreal already had Mike Reilly, we are not trading to get him back.

I like a lot of what you did here. Just not Strome. Values right on trades, but wrong teams.

Everything else pretty solid.

Agree with Gofnut999... geting hold of a first and a third, with a tweak shift at RW is solid thinking! I´ve fiddled with Strome in my line up´s, but will he be better than Jake? Thing with Strome though is security on no 2 C.

Strome is a downgrade from Haula. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Haula as 2C .73 ppg 54% faceoff solid 2 way play

Strome .73 ppg 44% faceoff below average defense

Stome will cost as much if not more than Coyle and all things being equal i’d take Coyle and many complain about his contract. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Trochek a better option.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm not married to Strome or the teams that the players were traded to for picks. More about the theory of using Debrusk/Reilly/Studnicka to open cap space and get future assets like picks or two way contract prospects back. Then effectively using that space to 1 - get a C/RW that could be a top 6 center like Strome, Trochek or other when Bergy retires, and 2 - get a big strong 2 way LW to go with Coyle and Smith to create more depth for when playoff time comes.

It's not perfect but it's the only way I see that's reasonable and can be done. We aren't going to the bottom of the league to draft a Matthews or McDavid with the talent on the team, and staying status quo is just asking to be ousted in round 1 or 2 again next year.
