Sure, maybe if Skinner actually agreed to play in Chicago. But the trade as proposed is that the Hawks buyout Skinner. Likely because he wants to go play for a playoff contender and that's the only reason he approves the trade. This is simply Buffalo trying to move off half the buyout cost and cap hit. That's the only scenario that makes sense here.

lol. No. You want to give us pick 14 to either just take Skinner or buy him out so you don't have to deal with the cap hit, fine. But we aren't sending back 18.

Hawks aren't eating 6 seasons of Skinner's buyout just to move up 4 spots in round 1 - even at 50% retention. The difference in the player available at 14 versus 18 in this draft will be minimal. I'm actually shocked Buffalo traded back from 11 to 14.

Next Year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EmailTruck</b></div><div>I have nothing wrong with Nazar, Slaggert, Moore, or any other prospect spending time in Rockford, if that’s what’s best for their development. I have a problem with them spending time in Rockford when it isn’t best for their development. Nazar was taken at #13, is a very good prospect, spent two years at Michigan after being drafted, and looked very good in three games with the Hawks last year. Maybe time in Rockford will help his development, but maybe he would be dominant in the AHL and the NHL is a better development location. If we sign expensive FAs, it’s harder to send them to Rockford, and we just have less flexibility. I’d rather risk needing to play Raddysh and Anderson every game because Nazar and Slaggert could actually benefit from time in the AHL than risk Nazar and Slaggert being ready for the NHL but not being able to play everyday because we can’t or won’t send Donato, Foligno, Mikheyev, or another forward to Rockford.</div></div>
Nazar was hurt for ~80% of freshman season. Specifically, about Nazar and not the other guys...that's another factor in why I want him to go to Rockford. I agree with you IF they're ready for the NHL...then go be there. Go win that position. I'm not worried about Donato/Mikheyev/etc... blocking pathways. I do like Management overall....truly I do. If Nazar wins that spot...they'll give it to him. they'll sit or trade Donato if he isn't in the top 12 forwards. They know that guys like him and AA/etc... aren't part of the long term plans.
Also, I wouldn't be upset if Nazar started in Rockford and hopefully crushes it...then come the TDL we trade a pending UFA like AA/Donato/Hall and then bring him up. I just want to take a pro-active and purposeful approach to development which they normally do, but with Reichel I don't think they've done this.

Youth Takeover
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EmailTruck</b></div><div>I think it very much depends on who’s available. If we take Demidov at #2 and Parekh is still there, I’d make this move. There are about 13 total players I’d absolutely love to be there at #18 (including Celibrini, Demidov, Levshunov, others who clearly won’t drop that far) but not all of those prospects are equal either, and if a top 8 prospect falls to 13 I think it would be worth it. This is the sort of deal that shouldn’t be made before draft day though.</div></div>
Sure. On the draft floor if someone is there that you really want, go get him. But, I don't think it is worth it at face value, and I don't think anyone who is worth moving up for will be there at 13.

Hawks decline. They aren't paying that for one year of Chych. Try calling a team with playoff aspirations for next season.

Hawks probably prefer to hang on to Greene. So take Greene and Holmstrom out of the deal and the Hawks probably accept.

Chicago doesn't need any LD and that package isn't enough for them to take on Krug's contract anyway.
Missed the Tyler Johnson signing. He couldn't get out of Chicago fast enough when the season ended. No way he would re-sign in Chicago. Plus, with guys like Foligno indirectly calling TJ and others out, Chicago wouldn't want him back either.

No thanks to all 3 of those UFA signings and a GIANT no thanks to that Krug trade. Hawks won't be interested in that contract in the slightest.

We have plenty of RFAs of our own. As for Marcel Marcel, it's going to take a 2nd round pick to get his name alone.</div></div>
Mads Sogaard is worth more than that IMO. Just a terrible trade all around.

Also as of now I don't see anyone that is ready for full time NHL duties besides the guys I already have in the lineup, Maybe some guys you'd want as a call up but no full time guys imo.</div></div>
I would much rather see an open competition through training cap & preseason with Philips, Roos & Del Mastro on the Left side, Crevier, Kaiser & Allan ( yes both off their regular side) on the right side than brining in any of the free agent D-Men listed above . At forward at the minimum Dach should get a look assuming he can stay healthy long enough.

He’s the first piece of the Hawks rebuild (other than Bedard of course) to become a star, and the psychological effect of trading him less than two months after he signed an extension on the team, prospects, and fans would be very large.</div></div>
Agree with all of that.

Hawks obviously decline. That is way to much to give up for one season of a 4th liner. Hawks will just give Lafferty $3m and keep their picks.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EmailTruck</b></div><div>With Mikheyev, we're $5.25 million below the cap floor. That's without counting Sam Lafferty, whoever end up as 3rd pairing defense, or players 21-23 on the roster. We won't have to sign a big name free agent to hit the cap floor. But I suppose even if we sign Teuvo we've only got 13 forwards, and it's unlikely that each healthy all season long. If Hayes, Dach, Lardis, or anyone else in Rockford earns a promotion we could presumably trade Hall, Donato, or Athanasiou. I 'd be surprised to see two more big forward acquisitions, but I suppose one makes sense.</div></div>
You generally want to be multiple million over the cap floor so you have room to sell guys at the deadline and such. But agreed I think theres enough flexility to add one more 6 top guy and still give Nazar/Slaggert/Dach their shot with the big club if they earn it.
