I don’t think 10 is fair value for Vlasic— I’d say he’s worth about #5 or #6 given his play last year, potential, and contract— but you’d have to massively overpay to get him. He’s the first piece of the Hawks rebuild (other than Bedard of course) to become a star, and the psychological effect of trading him less than two months after he signed an extension on the team, prospects, and fans would be very large.

If I'm MTL I likely take you up on this offer. Draft a D at 5 (Ideally Silayev, but they could take Buium or Dickinson too) and draft a forward at 10 (Sennecke, Iginla, Catton?).

i wouldnt do that borb deal. u would have to add to it cuz hes going to be a huge part in our d core. looked very solid during the season and played great for a young kid all playoffs. hes young and has very good size. if nurse was getting paid 3m less(like he should) then we wouldnt even consider it unless u gave us 10 oa + nhl level player + prospect but nurse deal kinda ****s us

I'm obsessed with this possibility now, can't wait for the draft I hope Hughes can pull something like this off! The idea of potentially trading 26th overall with 10th overall to move up is also interesting, they could add a pair of top prospects.

I mean yeah for Holtz and the 10th OA NJ is going to want a serious piece (or pieces in return). The 10th OA would almost certainly be either packaged with something else for a big deal or be going the other way for a package were it to be moved. Same as with almost any high end pick. As a pie in the sky example IF the Devils were looking to make a move for Marner (and I know you've said no here and why you think no but IF) and thought they could re-sign him (ignoring whether or not the Devils have the cap space or not for a moment) then yes Holtz and the 10th OA would probably be pieces in discussion but the question is also the fit as you've rightly pointed out.

I think if that pick gets moved, it’s more likely a younger player with plenty of term.
