Ranking goalie tandems after day 1 of free agency
If it's just the goalies, Blackwood/Vanecek should be higher, same with Husso/Lyon/Talbot.
Errson/Fedotov, Wolf/Vladar need to drop slightly.
Storlarz/Woll need to drop significantly.

Jensen was a second pair RD on a playoff team.
This deal was probably finalized awhile ago and the teams waited for the signing bonuses to clear ($2M for Jensen, $1M for Chych. Ottawa saves a $1M real money). If there was a better deal available, Ottawa would have already taken it.

The team JUST signed Lilly to that. It's not being moved.
And the Leafs have bigger cap issues than the Avs.

Jensen is a fine return. He has more defensive awareness than Chych, plays the right side and is signed for 2 years at a decent cap hit.
Ottawa already has Sanderson and Chabot on the left and to QB the powerplay. Chych was never going to get the money he deserves playing in Ottawa with these two signed long term.
I personally would have preferred the team to move on from Chabot instead, but it is what it is.

I think 6.5 is too rich for Pinto. He's a middle six center at most.
Look what Mittelstadt got, that's the most I'd personally pay for Pinto. ($5.75M)

expect Pinto (or Norris is a GM is willing to gamble on him) to be gone, but expect a roster player back for him.
Things aren't as dire as they look.

Ottawa has no room for Kulak. Any trade with Ottawa is dollar in, dollar out and you have Hammer and Joseph to choose for those dollars if it isn't a pure hockey trade.

They'll be challenging for a playoff spot. Not everyone is going to take a step back like last year.
Better Defense and goaltending than Leafs, Sabres, Red Wings & Canadiens.

Speed Up Rebuild Mark 5
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sk540</b></div><div>Not a bad point, I though they wanted to move on anyway. With Sanderson, Zub, Jensen now, JBD, and Thomson, that's not a bad corps - and still some decent FA's out there.
Was just a thought tho.</div></div>
Thomas is going to Europe and never coming back.
Ottawa is capped out with $4.4M remaining which is either going to Pinto, or who the team is getting for Pinto.
Left side next year (unless a trade brings someone in) Sanderson, Chabot, Kleven then.... Davies, who they just signed with Hamara, Donovan, Sebrango in the minors and that's it. They're now light on the Left, so trading any of these players means the team needs to take a LD back.
Edit: it wasn't a bad thought. It's what I wanted the Senators to do (and keep Chych, moving him at the deadline) but with Chabot's NTC kicking in, he's not moving.

Now that the Senators have moved off of Chychrun, they're not moving Chabot without getting a top 4 LD back. Doesn't have to be as good as Chabot, but they are not creating a hole in their line-up for pieces they don't need.

Forgot about that. I didn't do Seattle because of Beniers too.
However, if they were clearing for Stamkos, getting TO to retain 3M would still slide him under, but as I said in the additional details, I don't think it's a proper destination unless he says "Detroit only"

Chych return was value in, value out. LD Offensive D (there are many of these) for a defensive RD with term (fewer of these) and a pick. I like the trade. Fills a glaring hole now.
Tarasenko had trade protection. I also see him low key coming back to the Senators again if they move off of Norris. Still a FA for all of his value.

Every team is now saying, 'why trade for him when we can get this guy for free.' Once free agency ends, and teams find themselves with holes because they missed out on players, that is when Joseph is going to be traded.

Ok Leaf fans, you need to start working WITH Kampf in your ACGMs. No team, not a single one, is taking him without a sweetener or retention or both. And no, Abruzzese isn't a sweetener. Neither is Robertson.

Pinto and Konecny trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Girouxsmouthguard</b></div><div>You think the Sens would have any interest in Frost?
And I wonder if Michkov coming over would entice Pinto to want to come here in a trade</div></div>
I think the Senators would Value Laughton more than Frost. It's one or the other.
Pinto really doesn't have a say. All he can say is he isn't signing and Senators shop him to whoever is interested.
Pinto caps out as a middle 6 center, so he'll push Michkov for playing time which would be a good thing for the Flyers and they'd have a future center depth of Michkov - Pinto/Frost - whoever. Not bad. Maybe improve it by moving on from Frost, who knows. Pinto is also a face off specialist, so they can protect the likes of Frost & Michkov on defensive draws.
The more I think about it, the more I think it's a good fit for Philly. If a suitable trade can be worked out.
