gourde
I think after that playoff run you're going to have trouble getting Mitts to sign that deal, guy was fumbling his bag in the regular season but came up big time in the post season, and it's be pretty easy to write his slow start off to his new team as adapting to the system and altitude for his new home.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ArakinSkywalker</b></div><div>that's fair, i honestly wouldn't say i've noticed him much when colorado plays them and haven't seen many trades for him on here so i basically had no baseline for what his value was. I mostly was looking for a dman wo could be retained and be under 1 mil after 2nd team retention</div></div>
His value is that of a 2nd pairing guy making a shade under $2.5M. He’s probably worth a late 1st before retention.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tjm220</b></div><div>You’re asking for a lot for Ross Colton. It’s more likely you get a 3rd and 4th at most. He’s a fine third line Center but if you insist on a second round pick, that’s all you’re getting. Buffalo probably does not want to part with Krebs unless he is a demanded piece in return for a player they have to have.</div></div>
You’re wrong. Less than a calendar year ago the Avs traded a 2nd for his rights then proceeded to put up 40pts he plays center, can move up in the lineup and has a reasonable contract for the next 3 years. Thinking that a 3rd and 4th rd pick gets that is a hilarious bad take. Multiple guys as rentals who produced under 20pts were traded for 3rd picks. Everybody is sucking off Dowd and him being worth a 1st and Colton almost doubled his production and is 7 years younger. The proposed trade imo is low value for him.

I think Ritchie stays in OHL one more year. He's not ready for a 2C role, and I don't think he's a great fit for 3rd or 4th line use.

Who cares about your paragraph of an excuse that’s just dumb. COL gives up the best player and best pick in the trade and you do mental gymnastics to justify. Avs. Never. Ever. Do. Dumb.

Berube At The Helm
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingExLeafs</b></div><div>That's an easy convo. He can sit in the press box or lace them up with ROR and Forsberg.</div></div>
So Craig Berube on his first day on the job is going to make Mitch Marner a healthy scratch to make sure every player knows their NMC don't mean crap.
Good luck with that.

Berube At The Helm
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingExLeafs</b></div><div>MMC means something but not everything. If Marner is going to play hardball then sitting him has be the outcome. People act like players are the only ones with power. Teams, coaches, GMs, and fanbases have power and influence too. If it's not Nashville it's going to be somewhere else.</div></div>
A NMC means Marner can select where he wishes to waive to if at all, any agent worth their salt would look amazing having Marner be a healthy scratch all season. It's terrible asset management from Toronto and ensures everyone in the league knows he will be a free agent July 1st. He holds all the bargaining chips at the moment.
Berube gets to select his lineup not his GM. And if he get's into doing what the GM says he already lost the locker room.
Please cite an event where one of the highest paid players in the league was a healthy scratch because they wouldn't waive a NMC or sign a new contract. It's career suicide and basically makes Marner look like the victim for wanting to stay with his team.

It's light if he's extended. It's more than I would pay for a rental.

COL is a no on that. Colton for Krebs and a 2nd sure but why would COL want to swap Wood for Rosen because Rosen doesn’t have any value to COL at all they have a Rosen in Olausson.

I think Gourde will cost more, especially with all that retention, but I really like the idea.
The third pairing is my biggest concern here. If they can find someone better to play with Malinski, that would be ideal.

Yeah I agree wholeheartedly, his overall game has definitely improved, but I think it’s legit to ask can he produce away from MacK because MacK can make a lot of guys look good. Maybe he’s willing to take some sort of discount to stay knowing what it’s like playing without him.

I could absolutely see Colton being the Avs cap casualty this off-season. I don’t love this return though, not saying that your offer here is bad from a value stand point (even though i think it’s a bit light). Just that i would like something a little bit different. Closer to the value of a late first round pick. Could be 2nd’s for example.

Kovalenko won't be on the top line. Nix the Toffoli signing, put Kovalenko at 3RW, and re-sign Drouin for 1LW and you're in business.

Jordan Harris isn’t worth a 2nd and I would trade Colton before I’d trade Lehkonen. And there is zero chance the Avs give a $2M contract to a bottom 6 guy.

An Optimistic Attempt
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Anus_McLeod</b></div><div>I'd love to keep both, but I'm taking Walker if I have to choose one. Manson can be replaced easier at the next deadline or earlier.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NMAvsFan</b></div><div>Malinski seems to have taken a step back since returning to the Eagles; his production is down which is disappointing. Ideally, he would have built off his success in the NHL. That doesn't mean he won't get another shot but the Avs are very impatient with guys like him. But I do agree that Manson does have a "presence" around the puck, even if he makes mistakes and takes penalties. That being said, I do think they can find someone that may not be able to do what he does offensively but can be a good defensive stalwart.</div></div>
I wouldn't look too much into a small down time for Malinski's first full pro career, its normal. They show no patience when its clear there isnt a fit with Barron n Timmins, and Heleson told them he wasnt going to sign, so thats a write off. I believe Walker is the easier of the two to replace as theyve done it through draft, trade, and free agent signing. They have failed in multiple attempts to find a Manson. Nemeths, Graves, and others. Let me know some rhd or even lhd that will provide what Manson brings for less money and fits the Avs speed and style of play.
Edit: I can see them sending Ritchie back for another jr year to grow physically and play in the WJC's.
