Wings Next Year
No chance Seider and Raymond get signed for less than 5 years each. Edvinsson will be second pairing. Not taking Trouba, unless NYR eats 3-5 million of the contract. Soderblom won't be back up. Kasper, Berggren, Veleno will all be back and Kane is making 4 million (which I LOVE). What a guy!

If Kane does decide to resign part of reason will be playing with Debrincat. If Stamkos signs pair him with Raymond.
Pesce will definitely get more and he will only be 31. So playing him in the 3rd pair isn't going to happen. Besides ASP will start in the 3rd pair. If he makes the team in 2025-26, it might take an extra season.</div></div>
Fixed. Still have lots of cap space to make another signing if we need to as well.

Detroit 100% doesn't take this trade. We're at the end of a rebuild, not a dumping ground for horrible contracts. NYR would have to retain at least half of Trouba's salary.

It's a rebuild. He's filling out the roster with NHL guys until the prospects have developed. Edvinsson up this year. Axel Sandin-Pelikka next, who, by all accounts in basically another Kris Letang. Then there's Cossa developing very well in net. Nate Danielson will get a shot with the big club as well.

First of all, the team name has pissed me off haha. Second of all, why on EARTH would you bridge Seider and Raymond and risk losing them when you have a potential Cup window, just to save a few million right now?

Also, Walman hit a pretty big regression defensively last year. He only had four more assists than Justin Holl (who played far fewer games) and had the least amount of assists of all regularly dressed d-men. I don't think he will reproduce the 12 goals again, as more people are aware of his great shot. It sucks, but hopefully we can pick up another d-man and if Johansson works out, then we have a much improved d-core from what we had going into last year.

Correct. Like these people know more than Steve Yzerman does. it's pretty unbelievable.

Ummm in a few years he's gone from 39 points to 91, improving a lot each season. He did this while inheriting the worst roster in the league, many bad contracts and ZERO useful prospects. We now have a ton of cap space to work with, arguably the best prospect pool in the NHL and should've been in a playoff spot last year if not for odd NHL tie-breaker rules and a horrific March when Larkin was hurt. Not to mention he drafted Seider at #6 overall and won the Calder and might very well have the steal of the draft when he took Lucas Raymond at #4. Keep in mind, as bad as they were, they were never even gifted a top 3 draft pick in the lottery. So, yeah, I think he's doing a fantastic job, all things considered.

Really gonna have to sweeten that deal with Detroit to take a good prospect, PLUS dump Trouba's money on us. You'd have to retain half.

Offense is greatly improved, but the defense is still pretty thin and without improvements in net, it'll be another sloppy year.

Offense is improved, but that defense scares the crap out of me, considering the goaltending situation hasn't changed.

Not sure Yzerman would give up six those picks for that return. Kaliyev is a big question mark imo. With losing Kane, this is a worse offense and it's right up against the salary cap as well. Also, not really dealing with the goaltending issues either. D looks more solid though!
