Why am I the only Red Wings fan that noticed how much Ben Chiarot SUCKED last season?

I'm not saying he was good by any means, but I didn't think he was awful. I thought he was able to tread water with Seider down the stretch and with guys like Manson and Edvinsson on the 2nd pair in this scenario, his work load would definitely go down.

If Trouba gets waived and then Detroit picks him up, he won't report. He's not leaving New York until his wife finishes her residency and I think he's ok with that. I wouldn't mind Trouba at a discount for that spot but it's just not gonna happen this year

Manson is a good D but why would Colorado trade him?

So my thought process was cap space. If Landeskog comes back, they'll need to dump some cap space. Also I do think lyon would be a good option in net for them with Georgiev cuz he got super overplayed last year and then they can also get maatta in on defence to at least have an NHL defenceman come back

I'm sure Colorado would be interested in Lyon because yes, Georgie Porgie has played too many games in his cashmere AVS sweater.

I've always said Maatta is a good 3rd pair D and frankly, I'm surprised Yzerman couldn't move him with only a year left on his contract at 3 mil.

This trade scenario is entirely based on Landy coming back so if he doesn't then obviously this trade doesn't work. But they sounded pretty optimistic hed be back in their post season pressers. Landeskog held an entire press conference to announce he wasn't retiring so that's gotta be a good sign

the other team cycles us constantly when Chiarot is on the ice. I watched about 3/4 of the games last year. I focus on Chiarot and Petry because the other team is always threatening when those 2 are on the ice. They stink.

Edvinsson better be playing with Seider this year. Even Seider alluded to wanting to NOT play with Chiarot.

You totally could be right and I could see that too. But I think he also means a tonnnnnn to that team (As he should) and I couldn't see them moving him so at the end of the day e's still making 7.5

As much as I'd love to see Ed play with Seider, I'd rather spread them out to kinda balance out our defence.

As a pairing Petry and Chiarot were awful, but I think Mo can lift Chiarot up to serviceable.

Seider can make almost anyone look good as his partner. But even Seider couldn't make Chiarot look good. Chiarot is lost as a defenseman in his own zone. He doesn't skate, he doesn't pick up a man and body him out of the way, and he doesn't transition the puck when he gets it. We get cycled on constantly while he's on the ice, leading to icing calls, penalties, tiredness, and goals against. We're not going to be good until Chiarot is gone.
