Don’t need to move TVR for nothing and especially not retaining on him. That holds a retention slot for two seasons for a cap hit that the oilers can actually afford. If you want the caps to retain on TVR, it’s at least a second. Otherwise a third for him straight up. Doesn’t make sense otherwise as they don’t need to move him.

In this scenario TVR is being used as a cap dump. After looking at the roster he is really the only one good enough with a moderate enough cap hit to be easily moved and help relieve cap stress. Yes the retention isnt very necessary but it seems like a win win move for both sides.

But the Caps don't need to dump cap lol, they'll be under the cap when Backstrom and Oshie go to LTIR. TVR starts on the Caps 3rd pair
