Description

With the signings, trades and renewals, Habs still have 24.9M$ next year to extend their RFA base and continue de development they need. They increase their Defensive skills with Carrier coming in, but also get leadership on all front with the newly hired players.

Additional Details:

Utah will need to add some experience without long term commitment. They have cap space, but I don't see them taking on cap dumps. At half price, Dvorak becomes a suitable option for them to get a veteran ready to help. Adding Barron helps them gather another young RHD with some experience who can be a point on the powerplay.

Ducks have zero interest in Harris, as we've said on this site a billion times. On the left side he'd be 6th on the depth chart behind Fowler, Mintyukov, Zellweger, LaCombe and Vaakanainen. He's also 5'11 and Verbeek won't look a defender if he isn't a minimum of 6'2".

Armia is a guy that I'd have some interest in but with Brock McGinn filling the role of 3M AAV 4th liner already and Brett Leason to play 4th line RW there just isn't a spot for him. Habs would have to take a guy back other than Groulx like Ross Johnston.

Groulx + Johnston for Armia is the trade I'd do. Pass on the original offer.
