Dellandrea wins here getting a chance to establish himself with the sharks.

I think the Sharks won this one. I think Dellandrea can be a solid middle 6 two-way forward in the league. Sad to see the Stars cut bait already and admit for the first time in the modern Stars' era (2017 and beyond) that they made a mistake with a FRP.

I was in Dallas visiting for that draft in 2018 and it looks to be the only bad one we've had recently, with our top 2 picks being gone now. I think Oscar Back (3rd round) is the only one left within the organization now.

I do not really understand why they would accept this trade for a 4th rounder

It's the same pick that San Jose got for Namestnikov.

For someone like Dellandrea, it's also a wash.

Fair deal.

DAL would have lost him on waivers and DAL did not project him in their lineup, so I get that DAL accepts any kind of asset for him

Sucks to lose Ty, really liked him. But he didn't really have a fair shot within our team so I wish him the best.

Was really hoping Verbeek was going to pick him up, thought he could be a good 3rd line RW that played with grit.

I'm also confused by this trade, for both teams. Why doesn't DAL keep this guy? 4th is not really a lot of return for him. 100% he will get way more ice time in SJ so it's great for him, so maybe DAL was doing him a favor?

Damn my last few Acgm had the Leafs trading Robertson for Dellandrea and a mid Rd pick.

I believe Dellandrea would fit nicely into a bottom 6 role.

Stars W. They likely didn't want to tend the $945k offer to Dellandrea, which would have made him a UFA. This way they get a 4th rd pick instead of nothing.

Good deal for the Sharks. I’d have loved to have seen Dellandrea play for the Calgary Flames personally

Great for the player- as he will have a chance to move up the roster a lot easier in SJ. I doubt he ends up anything more than a good 4th liner, but he was a high pick and hes still young-ish.

Great deal for Grier as a 4th pick for a guy who had a hard time scoring from the press box on a stacked squad is brilliant.

Fully agree. He didnt get fair shot under Depoer. Shame, because i did see a lot potential on Dellandrea. I did fear this might happen, because in Game 5 he did bring puck back to own zone and DAL did take penalty which Edmoton scored and it changed momentum. Last year he made 2 goal against Vegas and Dallas was able to force serie to game 6. Dellandrea have leader potential and i like his gamestyle a lot. I am happy that SJ got him, because San Jose have my favorite players Granlund and Kunin already, so i can continue following Dellandrea career.

He is arbitration eligible.

Based on the criteria that is admissible in arbitration, he might get an amount higher than his actual value to Dallas. Because of this, and the fact that he has played his way off their team (and is not waiver exempt), I suspect they would not have even qualified him.

He was drafted 6 years ago, so draft position is irrelevant.

From San Jose's side of things, you can see that they clearly are out to acquire NHL players with team control because their roster stinks and they need to quickly build depth around Celebrini. By that I don't mean they are going out and acquiring superstars to help him, but they need guys who can play roles and have been in the NHL before.
