I probably have a stronger stomach than most when it comes to discussing retaining salary on Jones, but even I think 25% is too much. $1.5M retention at most, and most other hawks fans on here would probably disagree with even that. Who cares if they retain half on Marner for one year, we’d have to retain on Jones for six (!) years

Sorry, but that's a really poor take by you on Jones. Zero chance the Hawks retain anything on Jones for 6 more years to get one year of Marner. Hawks don't make this deal even as proposed with no retention on Jones.

I'd tell you to get with the program, since we have already reached a general consensus on these things, but CapFriendly is gonna be gone soon. So it doesn't really matter. Just stop with the anti-jones garbage. Unless he asks for a trade or they get a crazy offer that forces them to go to him and his agent, he isn't getting traded. Not only that but moving him would leave a MASSIVE hole in CHI's defense. Get over it, and move on.
