Bennett is crucial to this new Panthers identity, but this package might/should be plenty of an overpay to make FLA accept.

SJ's not taking on 9m x 3 years unless there's a 1st attached ('24 pick is too high to trade to dump a contract but '25/'26 when there's a solid chance of being a playoff team) or a 2nd+ whatever prospect to make it equivalent value.

I’m pretty sure Skinner is the antithesis of the type of player Grier would target, I don’t think he’d be assigning much value to what Skinner brings on the ice - it’d be a pure cap dump valuation. At $27M in total cap relief, I suspect it would take much more than a fourth to make this work. It’d likely cost a first and a very good prospect; and even then I’m not sure the Sharks want to tie up that much cap for three seasons.

Too much for 1 year Bennett. We'll need more to get rid of Skinner. And these defensive pairings look strange. Lindy said yesterday that Dahlin will play with Power or Samuelsson.

Power - Dahlin
Byram - DeMelo
Johnson - Clifton/Jokiharju

Although it is likely that one of Jokiharju or Clifton will be traded. Because neither of them can play on the LD and the top 4 seems to be already complicated

Skinner had a terrible year, but I'd rather see if he can regain his form than just ship him out for nothing. That's a lot of goals to replace, even in a down year.
Also would make that trade for Bennett in a heartbeat.

I respectfully disagree. Skinner is a good 30+ goals player . They will need someone on that top line, not to just reach the cap floor, but to play with 1,1 so he has a serviceable line... Maybe we retain 1 million or two. But I think they would take it..

It's a swing for the fences. Assuming Samuelson continues to get hurt and Bennett is just what we hope Savoie will be in four years.

We won't get a bag of pucks for That Skinner contract. Give him away

He just had a 50 point pace with much better line mates and team. At 32 he still might bounce back a little but not much, especially with worse surrounding players. SJ won't just take on 9 mil (and even 8 or 7 mil) over 3 year commitment without a good reason.

He's saying you'll need to add more to get rid of Skinner.

Like I said the problem is that Bennett has one year left on his UFA. That deal value is in Florida's favor, I have no doubt about that.

No, I meant that we probably need to send a good prospect or a high pick with Skinner to get rid of him.
