For a future top 10 defenseman? Yeah they should. Good thing canes laugh staios off the phone here

If there was a promise that he would become that then sure, maybe, but the guy hasn't played a single NHL shift yet so all he is is potential. The 7oa pick could literally end up with just as much if not more potential alone, and Greig is going to be a very capable middle 6 guy for the next 10 years.

I beg to differ
Proof

Not only is this not proof of anything, but the fact that you believe it is, is well… astounding

Necas is a budding star. If he pans out into that, point per game+ player, he’s absolutely worth this. The hardest position to find in hockey is a right shot franchise forward, and Necas can be that. In my eyes, Dahlin is worth giving up for that opportunity

Wait, you're being serious with this?

Dead serious. Sabres lack that bonafide 1RW (Tuch is a 2nd liner at best), and Necas provides that for them. It’s worth the risk imo

On top of all the other insanity everyone has mentioned, Bordeleau as a 2C for a team with contender aspirations is wildly optimistic. Bordeleau is tracking as bottom six scoring winger with middle six upside and AAAA downside.

Also this Sharks fan sees absolutely no value in Kuz for the Sharks. He is neither reliable on the ice nor as a locker room leader. No thanks.

Bordeleau still totally has 2C potential. The vision he has is great. I think surrounding him with solid players here would lead to immense success

Necas is not a first line player. He's barely a second line player. Tuch, peterka, and Benson are all better. Dahlin is a franchise damn that's nowhere close to being available. I honestly can't believe I have to type this out

I’ll give you Peterka, but that’s a BIG maybe. Benson screams 3rd liner with skill at best - a sorta Tyler Ennis type. He’s too small to be a huge difference maker. Tuch has his moments, but he doesn’t excel in anything like Necas does. What I’m saying, is that Buffalo would be wise to spend on that position, even if it comes at the expense of a D man

Necas is a budding star. If he pans out into that, point per game+ player, he’s absolutely worth this.

Necas has been in the League for 5 full seasons, has never reached 80 points in any of them, averages less than 50 points per season, has exceeded 0.8 PPG in only one of them, and has a lifetime PPG average of 0.67. What makes you think that at age 26 he's suddenly going to turn into that kind of scorer? (His 53 points last season weren't enough to put him in the top 100 scorers in the NHL.)

You have no idea what you're talking about. Peterka is for sure already better than necas while being years younger. You clearly have never watched Benson play. He doesn't play like his size and he has a lot of skill. He's definitely a top 6 forward as worst. Tuch is a premier forward for the Sabres and is a top six stud and team leader. I'm still absolutely dumbfounded that you think necas gets anywhere close to dahlin

There's not a chance in hell the Sens decline that, Nikishin is a top 5 prospect in the world.

Ottawa is gonna give up the 7th overall pick and Greig....... for Nikishin? I think not unless you break in and put a gun to Staios' head haha

With respect, Nikishin is worth more than this. He's 22, the best Russian D man in KHL history, and a top 5 prospect in the world. He's better than anything you'll find outside of Celebrini in this class, and the difference is WAY more than Ridley Grieg

Tuch has more goals over the last 3 years in less games and is only 2 years older. What are you on, and how do I get some.

Dahlin isn’t what I’d consider a “budding star”, he’s a franchise defenseman. But another forward in that 22-25 range with top 6 upside is what I’d expect the Canes to want for Necas. Rest of the trades are… interesting.

I’d do the Sharks trade, not sure if they would pay much for KK though and Kuzy is worth maybe a 3rd.

Doubt Vancouver would pay a 1st for Guentzel’s rights. Taking a 3rd or 4th for Guentzel and cutting out all the extra stuff is more likely.

I like Novak for a 3C but idk if Nashville would part with Evangelista as welll for a couple picks.

The Ottawa trade… hell no.

I understand how good of a prospect he is, but I struggle with the idea of giving up the potential of whatever the 7th overall pick can be, and the roster security of Greig for a guy that plays a position that is not a position of need for the sens, and whos production comes from a league whos best players have already flamed out in North America. He'll be a fine player, but with no bias towards him I can;t confidently say hell be one of the best NHL dmen in the league.

Are you kidding me? Wow, just wow.

Apparently it has escaped your attention, but the World Championships are held at the same time as the Stanley Cup playoffs, so as a result, 95% of the world's good hockey players don't participate. Therefore, the WCs are a second-tier competition. And even if they weren't, a 5-game sample size isn't enough to determine anything more than Necas' jock size.

Every team needs veteran leaders, SJS doesn’t have any. Granlund isn’t a vocal guy, so I thought it would behoove them to go out and get some guys. Kuz is on a really good contract - his playoff performance shows that - and KK can easily turn into a top 6, defensively responsible C

Those two guys aren't leaders.
