Those wouldn't work... SJ is maxed out on retention for next year... this is why a lot of people questioned them retaining on Hertl

Have to agree here SJ even if they could do this take it on the chin to help out other teams and not much reward.

I get that it San Jose can't do this because of the lack of retention (forgot to check that before I made the trade) but hypothetically what would be fair compensation for retaining 8mil for a couple years

There are comps of $6 mil being a 1st rounder…I would be fine if it was two 2nds
