Hawks obviously decline. They aren't trading 6 years of Jones for one year of Tavares. And there is no RD who is better than Jones available in free agency.

But Calgary should be all over that offer for Andersson

Kane in fact did talk to TO when he was deciding where to go. From most accounts the Leafs didn't have all that much interest in Kane. But we all can count on you to tell us no one wants to play in Canada. No one. Not even the players who sign in Canada.

So let me ask a serious question.

If Chicago can just go and sign a better d-man than Jones in FA, why would Toronto make this trade? Why wouldn’t they just go sign the better d-man themselves?

For a non Leaf fan, you post about the Leafs a lot 🤔 #rentfree. Although tbf you typically include an insanely on revised trade in Flames’ favour.
Jones - with that contract - is nuclear waste toxic. Leafs want no part of it, + JT doesn’t waive to join one of the worst teams in the league
