We're really not interested in trading our only RHD under contract for next season. Gudas has been great here.

Love the Seattle trade for NJD...but Tolvanen is gonna a bigger raise than that. Probably would have to double the term and AAV.

Get retention on Markstrom to pay for it

Overpay for Markstrom there.. take Holtz out and swap him for Rossi to fill the 3C if you’re keen to move him

Holtz isn't a top 10 piece anymore and NJ has plenty of undersized skilled players. Goalies aren't going to come cheap this off season with how weak the UFA market is, or you can test your luck with 37 year old Talbot or Washingtons other failed goalie.

The issue is Markstrom’s Age and relatively sudden leap to elite after their team went through major upheavals that changed the look of the entire team. Logic dictates that he will regress very hard this year or next and I’m not willing to part with high end assets in what’s a longshot bet at longevity.. Holtz is definitely less valuable than his draft, he’s still likely worth a late 1st. I’m not willing to give up any assets that are high value for a temporary solution.. this team is intended to fight for cups for 10 years, this goalie acquisition needs to be there for 5 of them and Markstrom doesn’t fit that bill. Jersey should just pay for Saros/Ullmark since they meet those criteria and they have the “spare” assets to afford them.

Being completely honest, the most I’d give up for Markstrom is a pair of 2nd rounders and a B/C prospect i.e Clarke/Filmon etc

I hear Campbell could be had cheap. edmonton might even retain salary like you want. Should be perfect for the cheapskate Devil's budget.
